Audi RS 6 Avant GT: reaching its peak

We have always said that the Audi RS 6 Avant is the king of family vehicles. It is incredible how it manages to achieve that level of extreme sportiness, while maintaining enviable practicality for its interior space or its trunk. In any case, it was a model that could hardly be improved, since it stood out in all sections. However, the brand with the four rings set itself the challenge of taking it to its peak and they have created the Audi RS 6 Avant GT. It is a totally unrepeatable limited edition.

So much so that it is announced in a circulation of just 660 units worldwide. Only 10 of them have been reserved for Spain, with a price of 266,750 euros. Whoever is willing to pay that sum will receive their RS 6 Avant GT starting in the third quarter of the year. loaded with specific details. At the performance level, it’s not like it needed much more. It is established on the basis of the RS 6 Avant Performance, the current top of the range, to replicate its numbers and even improve its performance.

The motor 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 It remains at 630 HP and 850 Nm of torque, which was already a significant increase compared to the series model. And now it’s faster than ever when declaring an acceleration of 0 to 100 km/h in 3.3 seconds, 0 to 200 km/h in 10.5 seconds or a top speed of 305 km/h. The eight-speed tiptronic automatic transmission and quattro all-wheel drive cannot be missing. Thanks to the self-locking center differential, it can send up to 70% of the torque to the front axle and up to 85% to the rear axle, ensuring that there are no losses of traction.

To this we must add that his sport rear differential It has a specific adjustment to give more prominence to those wheels in Dynamic mode. It comes standard with the RS ceramic brake system and high-performance Continental Sport Contact 7 tires. In our market it also comes with a adjustable coilover suspension which lowers its height by 10 mm and offers superior rigidity to reduce swaying. That’s as far as improvements that affect its behavior, because in the aesthetic section the list increases.

This model has been inspired by the RS 6 GTO concept prototype, made by apprentices, which in turn had as a reference the legendary Audi 90 quattro IMSA GTO from 1989. This translates into a very elaborate aesthetics which integrates carbon fiber elements, such as the hood, mirrors, skirts, wheel arches and even the spectacular 22 inch wheels. There are some gloss black moldings, a new front splitter or a double spoiler that emulates the competition ones. It is the first to dispense with roof bars and five units will arrive in Spain with Arkona white bodywork, two in Mythos black and three in Nardo grey; although they can be fully vinyled.

In the cabin, a combination of red and copper colors is chosen for its upholstery. Probably the most striking are the new RS bucket seats, while the specific inscriptions of this Audi RS 6 Avant GT cannot be missing at various points. The number of the series limited to 660 units appears on the center console. In the Spanish you can see from #600 to #609, which are those assigned to our country.
