BMW M4 Coupé 2024: more power for the legendary six-cylinder

The fact that there is a new Series 4 usually means that its most extreme variant is also renewed. Luckily, we can continue enjoying the BMW M4 Coupe 2024 a few more years in the way that most convinces purists. This means that electrification is left out of the equation and that the inline six-cylinder remains at the heart of it. Of course, with a power boost and with some interesting news that arrive to convince those who still had doubts.

It was quite clear that the M4 would continue to opt for the block of 3.0-liter turbo six-cylinder, a formula that has been used for more than a decade. Although it is announced with a 480 HP access version linked to manual transmission, it seems unlikely that it will reach our market. Here you can choose the Competition and its 510 HP with 650 Nm of torque, which is still propulsion, but which mounts the eight-speed M Steptronic automatic transmission. And there is even a variant that is above.

The BMW M4 Competition xDrive is the variant that adds tractiontotal and also a slight increase in power of 20 HP. With that total of 530 HP and 650 Nm of torque, it is the top of the range and manages to accelerate 0 to 100 km/h in 3.5 seconds (four tenths faster than the propulsion), in addition to the same maximum speed limited to 250 km/h. It is true that with the optional M Driver’s Package it can be increased to a top speed of 290 km/h. In any case, the all-wheel drive has 4WD modes, also a 4WD Sport that prioritizes the rear axle and a 2WD with DSC disabled that could be like a drift mode.

Other benefits typical of this top of the range are maintained, such as specific chassis tuning, which leaves the Adaptive M suspension with three available settings. You can also modulate the M Servotronic steering or the feel of the brakes, including the optional M carbon-ceramic ones. Among the interesting “trinkets” to play with the M4 on the circuit are the M Lap Timer and the M Drift Analyzerwhich serve to measure lap times and control skids, respectively.

It was clear that the BMW M4 Coupé would be well differentiated from the rest of the 4 Series thanks to that so impressive aesthetics. It debuts the headlights with that striking light signature, as well as adaptive LED and even laser technology. Personalization is increased by optional graphics for the hood and tailgate, while the roof comes in gloss black. The 19-inch front and 20-inch rear wheels cannot be ignored, which also have a new design.

The driving position is spectacular thanks to the M sports seats, although optionally there are M Carbon baquets, which reduce the total weight by 9.6 kg and have a much more racing aesthetic. The M sports steering wheel can be in Alcantara, while there are several options to choose from for both upholstery and trim (including aluminum or carbon fiber). The technology It updates with the BMW Curved Display made up of the 14.9-inch touch screen and the 12.3-inch digital instrumentation.
