the tire that promises to revolutionize the Super-Sport Touring category

Not too long ago we told you that the Metzeler ROADTEC 02 It was in its final phase of development and testing. Now, just a few months later, Metzeler officially presents the ROADTEC 02. The new product from the German factory specializing in the manufacture of motorcycle tires that, thanks to its Adaptive Tread Pattern technology, adapts the behavior of the tire from Sport-Touring to Supersport.

Thanks to this advance, it is possible to benefit from the behavior of two types of tires on a single rubber, we could call it “sports tourism”.

Thanks to its dual compound back formula and 100% silica composition, the Metzeler ROADTEC 02 It has been meticulously designed to deliver outstanding performance and an exceptional driving experience in a wide variety of conditions.

Available now to the public, the ROADTEC 02 They present, as we mentioned at the beginning, an innovative technology that allows you to enjoy the advantages of two types of tires in one.

Its Adaptive Tread design adjusts the geometry of the grooves according to the driver’s driving style, thus altering the contact surface with the road and, consequently, the behavior of the tire. Thus, it adapts from Sport-Touring mode to Supersport.

As we are telling you, this tire practically inaugurates a new category, the “Super-Sport Touring”, offering a much wider range of performance depending on the driving style. In addition, both the front and rear tires have been designed with the same tread design to ensure uniform adaptability on both axles.

The adaptive tread pattern of the Metzeler ROADTEC 02 It’s all an invention. When the driver opts for a calm driving style, or in wet conditions, the long grooves in the tread pattern facilitate the evacuation of water and allow correct mobility of the tread compound, providing rapid warm-up, comfort and optimal grip. In other words, it adopts the qualities and behavior typical of a Sport-Touring tire.

On the other hand, when a more aggressive driving style is preferred in dry conditions, the greater weight transfers and lateral forces cause some of the grooves to close, thus increasing the compactness and stability of the tread. This makes it possible to take full advantage of the compound’s grip properties, improving driving precision and modifying its behavior to get closer, in this case, to that of a supersport tire.

The tread design of the new ROADTEC 02compared to its predecessor ROADTEC 01 SE, increases the ratio between the contact surface and the non-contact surface, which improves the tire footprint and makes it more uniform as the camber angle changes, providing a smoother and more precise ride. In addition, the reduction of slots contributes to improving acoustic comfort.

The rear tires are dual compound, combining exceptional stability at high speeds with outstanding cornering grip, even on wet roads. This is achieved thanks to the innovative generation of 100% silica compounds, both at the front and at the rear, which optimizes chemical grip on wet roads, providing additional safety for the rider.
