Husqvarna Motorcycles is widely known for its incredible motocross, enduro and supermoto motorcycles, but now it has decided take a step in another direction, by launching the Skutta, an electric scooter, on the market.
This way, the prestigious Swedish brand gets fully involved in the growing market for personal mobility vehicles, increasingly present in large cities due to their functionality and for being an excellent alternative to get around comfortably and quickly. And thereby avoiding the usual congestion and slowness of urban car traffic.
What is Skutta like?
The Skutta prototype, the BLTZ, was presented two years ago and already revealed several of the interesting and innovative features of this scooter. It has a folding system patented by this Swedish company, making it easy to store inside the house or in the office.
To this advantage we must add its low weight: 17 kg with everything and battery, thanks to the fact that the scooter is made of light aluminum, which does not mean that it is a fragile transport. In practice, the Skutta It is designed to withstand the elements and withstand weather conditions like those in Sweden, which are not exactly soft. It can be exposed without problems to outdoor conditions, since it has protection against water.
It has a lithium battery, with a capacity of 276.6 Wh, which gives it a range of up to 20 km, depending on the driving mode we choose to travel: sporty, economical and pedestrian. The battery can be easily removed and replaced with another that has a charge; the previous one can be fully recharged in 4 hours and 20 minutes.
The battery powers a motor located in the rear wheel and which can reach a maximum power of 350 W. It also offers a drum brake system, which operates on a front wheel. 10-inch and an 8-inch rear wheel.
As we read at caranddriver.com, all These features make the Skutta an excellent means of getting around in urban environments.causing a minimum environmental impact and with different driving modes, which allow it to adapt to the personality and needs of each driver.
A return to the roots
Husqvarna Motorcycles began its history in the late 19th century by building VMPs, which were then better known as bicycles. It was from 1903 when they began to produce motorized bicycles, and already in 1920 they made their own engine, 550 cc and 4 stroke. Over the years they came to have competition with the main motorcycle brands, and bicycles, the ecological vehicle par excellence, seemed to have been forgotten.
It hasn’t been like that. With the commercialization of Skutta, Husqvarna resumes a tradition of more than 100 years, by offering users a sophisticated and ecological electric scooter. This model can now be purchased online through the Husqvarna website, and at authorized distributors of this brand in Europe, for a price of 1,549 euros.
