The corral of low-medium displacement sports cars continues to expand with new frames such as the recently approved one Vogue RR500 which, following a pattern similar to that of its sister the RR660S, promises to offer its future owners high doses of fun and performance, thanks to an elaborate and balanced package. In short, one of those motorcycles that “Hi-Sport” lovers increasingly like.
The news, which we learned just a few hours ago thanks to the well-informed Ben Purvis of Cycle World, tells us some of the most relevant data about the new model from the Asian firm. But, above all, it puts in context the reason for its launch and what is to come within the category in the coming months.
Voge RR500: Reminiscing about times gone by
It was Kawasaki who was in charge of inaugurating this new category of low-medium displacement sports frames equipped with high-performance tetra-cylinder engines. He did it with his Ninja ZX-4R/RR, a model equipped with a furious four-cylinder engine of just 400 cc and a chassis to match.
With it, more than one petrolhead without repair remembered that glorious era dating from the late eighties to the mid-90s, where this type of motorcycle became a star product in many markets.
Subsequently, other brands have joined this improvised party using a similar recipe. Kove launched its 450RR, QJMotor has almost ready the new SRK400RR and ZXJC recently showed us its brand new ZX-500RR, “the new rival of the ZX-4RR that resembles it even in color.” The latter is the work of the brand recently unveiled by the former founder of Kove Moto, Zhan Xue.
In this scenario, the Voge RR500, known in internal code under the acronym LX500GS-2and equipped with a 475 cc in-line four-cylinder engine. With a rather peculiar image that moves away from the design of most of its rivals, the Voge RR500 declares a maximum power of 76 HP, 191 kg curb weight and a top speed of 137 mph, about 220 km/h.
In the cycle part, its tubular steel chassis stands out along with an aluminum rear swingarm. The suspension system uses an inverted front fork and an adjustable central monoshock anchored to the rear. Braking is provided by Nissin with double front discs and four-piston radial calipers. Behind it is a third disc and double-piston caliper. The declared wheelbase extends to the 1,374mm.
Now, as usual, we have to wait for the brand to officially present the model and offer us in-depth technical details. Also know if this new Voge RR500 will reach the European continent and if so, two key aspects about it: When and at what price.
