He National Motorcycle Museum once again became the epicenter of European collecting with an auction that has already gone down in history, that is without a doubt. Organized by H&H Classicsthe event managed to raise more than 2.1 million euros, easily exceeding all initial forecasts.
The event, held on March 25, not only stood out for its economic volume, but also for the public response: more than 85% of the 301 vehicles offered found a buyer. A figure that reflects the excellent health of a market in which classic and collector motorcycles continue to gain weight among investors and fans.
Record auction
As we have learned, much of the success is explained by the auction scenario itself. The British museum has established itself as one of the reference spaces for this type of event, both due to its location and its symbolic value within 2-wheel culture. In fact, it is no coincidence that it attracts international buyers who even travel expressly from other countries to bid live.
Among the most striking pieces was a Motorcycle Morini Bialbero 250one of the most advanced and technological machines of its time. This model, linked to the world runner-up achieved by Tarquinio Provini in 1963, it far exceeded expectations, confirming the enormous pull that historical competition motorcycles continue to have.
A Egli Vincent Black Shadowwhich was awarded for more than 67,000 euros, well above its initial estimate. As we can see, these types of exclusive preparations, which combine artisanal engineering with legendary bases, have become authentic cult objects.
But not all were machines from the 60s. More recent models also demonstrated their potential in the collectors market, such as the Ducati 996 SPS/F, a superbike approved for competition of which only 150 units were manufactured. Its final price, close to 28,000 euros, showed that the sports shoes of the late 20th century are already playing in the league of classics.
Even less common proposals had their role. For example, a rare Velocette Viceroy exceeded its initial estimate and confirmed that market interest is not limited only to sports or large displacement motorcycles.
The organization highlights not only the volume of sales, but also the evolution of the auction concept itself. Today, these events combine in-person experience with online participation, expanding their reach globally and allowing collectors from around the world to compete for unique pieces.
Be careful, if anyone is interested, the next appointment already has a date. It will be July 22, and everything indicates that the bar will continue to rise in a sector where history, exclusivity and passion are increasingly translated into astronomical figures. Without a doubt, an appointment to keep in mind and which we will talk to you about in due course.
