Honda MSX125 Grom 2026 – Technical Data Sheet, Photos and Price

The Honda MSX125 Grom 2026 It comes to reinforce one of the most recognizable formulas within the Honda catalog: that of a small, light, fun motorcycle with a very strong personality. It is not a conventional 125 nor does it pretend to be. The Grom plays in that very particular territory of urban “mini bikes”, where compact size is not incompatible with striking aesthetics, agile behavior and a strong emotional charge.

Its history connects directly with the spirit of those small leisure motorcycles that Honda began to popularize in the sixties with the Monkey. Decades later, the MSX125 took this approach and adapted it to a new generation of users: young, urban riders, lovers of customization and also drivers looking for an easy, economical and different motorcycle to get around on a daily basis.

In Europe, the name Grom was officially adopted as of 2021, although it was already known in other markets such as Japan and the United States. Since then, the model has been evolving without losing its essence. In 2025 it received a redesigned, cleaner and more modern body, and now, for 2026, Honda focuses the update on a new color range that further enhances its design.

Engine of the Honda MSX125 Grom 2026

The 2026 Honda MSX125 Grom maintains the well-known 125 cc, SOHC, two-valve, air-cooled single-cylinder engine. It is a simple, reliable mechanism designed for eminently urban use, but with just the right amount of character so that each trip has a recreational component.

This engine declares a maximum power of 7.2 kW at 7,250 rpm, with a maximum torque of 10.5 Nm at 5,500 rpm. These are not figures designed to impress on paper, but to offer a usable, direct and easy-to-manage response. In a motorcycle that weighs only 103 kg in running order, this performance fits with a very clear philosophy: agility, accessibility and fun at low and medium speeds.

One of the most important elements of the Grom is its five-speed gearbox. Compared to more basic approaches within the 125 cc segment, this transmission allows for more natural and relaxed driving, especially when leaving purely urban traffic. In addition, it helps to better stretch the possibilities of the small single-cylinder and allows it to reach a reported maximum speed of 94 km/h.

The manual clutch also plays an important role in the driving experience. Although the Grom is compact, its handling conveys more of a “real motorcycle” sensation than a simple urban access vehicle. The final development also contributes to this, with a 15-tooth pinion and a 38-tooth crown, combined with the 12-inch wheels.

Efficiency continues to be one of its main arguments. Honda announces a consumption of 65.7 km/l in WMTC mode, supported by low friction solutions such as the offset cylinder and roller rocker arms. Power is provided by the PGM-FI electronic injection system, while the 2.5 liter air filter box and the exhaust divided into an independent collector and silencer complete a simple, robust and very rational mechanical assembly.

The cycle part is one of the points that differentiate the MSX125 Grom within the universe of small motorcycles. Honda has not limited itself to creating a 125 with reduced dimensions, but has opted for a structure that seeks to offer solid sensations and more precise behavior than would be expected in a motorcycle of this size.

The frame is a steel monocot, with a square section main tube that directly connects the steering head with the swingarm pivot area. This solution provides structural rigidity and, at the same time, contributes to that minimalist aesthetic so characteristic of the Grom, with a good part of the components visually integrated around the central structure.

Its dimensions reinforce this urban and playful approach. The wheelbase is 1,200 mm, with a 25-degree cast and 81 mm trail. The seat height is only 761 mm, which makes standing maneuvers much easier and makes it accessible to a wide range of users.

In suspension, the Grom mounts a 31 mm USD inverted fork in the front and a rear monoshock associated with a rectangular-section steel swingarm. The inverted fork not only adds image, it also improves the guidance of the front axle and reduces unsprung masses. On such a short and light motorcycle, this precision is especially noticeable in quick changes of direction.

The braking system consists of hydraulic discs on both axles: 220 mm at the front and 190 mm at the rear. The front caliper is a double-piston caliper, while at the rear a single-piston caliper is used. In addition, the Grom incorporates ABS controlled by IMU, an unusual solution in models of this approach and size, designed to minimize the lift of the rear wheel during intense braking.

The 12-inch, five-spoke cast aluminum wheels mount tires measuring 120/70-12 at the front and 130/70-12 at the rear, reinforcing both its muscular image and its agile behavior.

Although its approach is simple, the 2026 Honda MSX125 Grom arrives well equipped. As standard, it includes LED lighting in both the headlight and taillight, which gives it a modern image and improves visibility.

The LCD digital instrumentation includes rev counter, gear indicator, speedometer, dual trip, fuel level and clock. For a motorcycle with an urban and youthful spirit, having a gear indicator is especially useful, especially for those who are starting out in the world of motorcycles with manual transmission.

One of the great attractions of the model continues to be its ease of customization. The body is designed for easy removal and offers ample surfaces for vinyl, decals or custom graphics. In that sense, the Grom is not only a motorcycle for daily use: it is also a perfect base for preparations, aesthetic modifications and personal projects.

As for accessories, Honda offers two main packs. The Comfort Pack adds black handguards and a smoked dome to improve protection against wind and cold. For its part, the Travel Pack increases the cargo capacity with specifically designed saddlebags, 10 liters of combined volume, waterproof inner bag and rear rack.

In addition, the components of both packs can be purchased separately. A rear seat bag is also offered with a 15-liter capacity, expandable up to 22 liters, with a waterproof cover and carrying handle.
