Historically, the Grand Prix of the Czech Republic marked the beginning of the final part of the championship, and was the perfect place to enjoy the races for many fans, who took advantage of their summer holidays to watch a World Cup race. It has also been the place where great announcements and agreements have been made, such as Valentino Rossi’s move to Yamaha and, of course, it has given us great moments on the track.
Although the first and second is something that has been partly lost due to the date change, the Czech route is still just as spectacular. A track that is almost 40 years old, but that was so ahead of its time that not even the layout has become small, although some loopholes may have, but that is another thing.
What is certain is that the 2026 Czech Republic Grand Prix can clear up our doubts, as long as it is held under normal conditions. And Aprilia’s dominance is intermittent and we are not just talking about the disaster in Hungary for which, by the way, Martín will have to serve a penalty on Sunday. It is rather a small feeling of inconsistency that is appearing, where circuits combine where they dominate at will and others where they suffer more. Of course, Bezzecchi seems much more consistent, and even when things don’t go well he usually adds a good handful of points, and that always makes the difference at the end of the year.
That has often happened with the RS-GP, but it has never been the competitive bike it is today. The question is knowing what performance the Ducati riders will achieve and especially Marc Márquez, who was intractable 15 days ago and who should arrive in even better physical condition to Brno. Likewise, Bagnaia, Di Gianantonio and Aldeguer have a lot to say.
And Pedro Acosta also has a lot to say. With the least competitive bike of those who are fighting for the top positions, he is maintaining the pace and, most importantly, he is not making mistakes regularly, he is adding points and right now he is 42 behind Bezzecchi and six behind Di Giannantonio, who is third.
You can’t expect much from Álex Márquez. The Catalan will return to action and has received the go-ahead to take to the track in FP1 of the Czech Republic Grand Prix. Good news, although the logical thing would be that this weekend he cannot compete with the leading drivers. Of course, Álex has already shown that he is capable of anything.
Like every weekend, Honda and Yamaha will be the big unknowns. There are occasional flashes in Yamaha, with good moments and much more consistency in Honda, although it seems that they are still not as close as expected to the golden wing mark, while Iwata’s team are getting faster and faster and, as Borsoi said, they do not stop progressing.
