It had been several months since there had been any talk about the future Hero Xpulse 421 and the details surrounding its development. Let us remember that we are facing the model called to be one of the biggest direct competitors of the Royal Enfield Himalayan. That is why, mainly in India, many fans continue to wonder when will be the moment chosen by the brand for its official staging.
The Hero Xpulse 421 is seen with a “camouflage suit”
If we look back, it was in March of last year 2025 when we last discussed the possible development of this Xpulse 421, based on the leak of images of the model in the patent registration carried out by Hero MotoCorp. Already then we warned how the Indian brand was focused on the creation of a frame “in which the fan does not miss anything that is usually related to versatility and the enjoyment of driving on any terrain.”
More than a year after that, Bikewale’s colleagues were the first to echo some images of the model in full testing on the icy peaks that make up one of the high mountain passes in Ladakh. Wrapped in the typical camouflage colors, we can now get a clear idea of what to expect once the final version of this Xpulse 421 is officially presented.
To begin with, its orientation is that, like most Trail-ADV frames in the category, they are committed to a clear off-road focus. Taking this into account are such common elements as radial wheels (probably 21 inches at the front and 18 inches), mixed-use tires or the raised side exhaust. Also the two-level seat, the compactness of its silhouette or a front dominated by an LED headlight, a windshield in an almost vertical position and the hand covers that surround the area of the grips and controls.
Other characteristics that denote the general philosophy of the Xpulse 421 would be the anatomical shapes of its tank, to which the pilot would adapt in any type of driving; the metal running boards with a strong upper support and a rear luggage rack ready to accommodate part of our luggage. Finally, closing this section, we cannot leave the opportunity to mention the digital instrument panel that this unit displays:
“Probably a TFT screen with smartphone connectivity for features like call and SMS alerts”just as our colleagues suspect. As for the technical part of the motorcycle, cycle part and engine, the Hero This is responsible for keeping the multi-tubular steel chassis that mounts the unit in question stable.
It also has a braking kit consisting of a front disc with radially mounted calipers and a single rear disc. Although there is no official data regarding the mechanics, everything indicates that the model will have a 421 cc single-cylinder engine, associated with a 6-speed gearbox with quickshifter. In terms of performance, a power output of around 45 HP is estimated, offering up to 40 Nm of maximum torque.
Finally, regarding its main equipment and electronic driving aids, the Hero Xpulse 421 could have, among others,:
- Driving modes
- cruise control
- Traction control
- Disconnectable dual-channel ABS, etc.
It is still too early to know when the moment chosen by Hero will be to show the world the final version of the model. Although there are still many months left until the celebration of a new edition of EICMA (Milan Motorcycle Show), the local specialized media and those closest to the brand’s management team are betting that it will be there where the Xpulse 421 will be shown for the first time.
