KYMCO prepares the CV-X45: a 34 HP ADV scooter, adventure aesthetics and that aims very high

Approximately two years ago, KYMCO showed two new concepts for the first time at the Nangang Exhibition Hall: RevoNEX and CV-R5. Later, on the occasion of EICMA 2024, the Taiwanese firm would do the same before the public present there. Now you have just applied for registration of the commercial name “CV-X45”the same one that, most likely, will become the definitive version of the second of the aforementioned prototypes.

KYMCO “CV-X45”: a competitive ADV is on the way

Within this puzzle, there is still one piece to fit. We are referring to another prototype of the brand with clear adventure scooter overtones: the CV-L6. Discovered before the attendees of the 2023 edition of the Milan show, we could classify it as the initial germ of this project. At the time KYMCO defined it as “More than a simple means of transportation; it is a gateway to unlimited emotion.”

Other important data in this recent record, which also offer us some clues about what the Asian brand plans with its future model, reside precisely in the acronym chosen for its possible commercial name. As explained from Cycle World: “The prototype’s 427 cc engine theoretically places it in the 450 cc category, as indicated by the “45” in the CV-X45 name, while the “X” indicates that it is an adventure-style model.”

About that last one; The CV-X45 will most likely be equipped with a long-travel suspension system, 15” rim and double brake disc on the front axle and 14” with a single disc on the rear axle. If we stick to the technical specifications that KYMCO published at the time about the CV-R5, it would have a 427 cc engine, capable of generating 34 HP of power and up to 40.2 Nm at 5,000 rpm.

The engine would become part of the general structure of the assembly where we would also find a state-of-the-art high-performance chassis and a conventional double arm swingarm, with a PTM system, capable of acting independently with respect to the mechanics. The transmission, for its part, would be controlled by a chain. The platform would be completed by a wide “trail-type” handlebar, Full-LED lighting or an efficient ABS system, probably disconnectable in off-road driving.

It should also have other typical equipment elements in the main models that would eventually become its direct competition: a large compartment under the seat, keyless start, traction control, wireless connectivity through a TFT screen and tire pressure monitoring, would be among them. In any case, for now, we have to wait for the brand to make an official statement on the matter.
