After resurrecting the beautiful Super Glide, there will only be 2,500 units and it looks spectacular, Harley-Davidson returns this hot summer with one of its new and long-awaited innovations, the recently launched Deadwood 2026. A model that began to be rumored just a few months ago when the Yankee firm requested the registration of this commercial name.
As we already explained at the time, “Deadwood” is a name with much more emotional weight than it might seem at first glance, since we are talking about a historic city in South Dakota. In addition, it is located just a few kilometers from Sturgis, the annual epicenter of one of the most important motorcycle gatherings in the world.
Harley-Davidson Deadwood 2026: tradition and history in equal parts
Harley-Davidson explains how the design and philosophy of its new Deadwood 2026 are inspired “in postwar garage car tuners and in the spirit of the Sturgis Rally.” Added to this is a raw and minimalist style popular with many motorcyclists immediately after World War II.
In a way the new Deadwood “pays homage to this era with a rugged personality that reflects the spirit of the solo biker”they claim. Bjorn Shusterhead of design at Harley-Davidson, said after its launch: “The Deadwood motorcycle embodies that spirit of rebellion and individualism so common after World War II, when many soldiers returning from the front rode a Harley-Davidson to experience excitement and freedom.”

Concludes: “At that time, very few vehicles could match the exhilarating performance of a modified military Harley-Davidson. As designers, we find this era of customization, the origins of the bobber style, very inspiring. Our second source of inspiration lies directly in the name Deadwood, a place linked to both the Sturgis Rally and its own rebel history. The graphic design of the tank evokes a Western visual language that personifies that place.”
Harley-Davidson Deadwood 2026: the technique
The new Deadwood is powered by the well-known engine 1,923 cc Milwaukee-Eight 117 Classic V-Twin. This has been tuned to emphasize drivability with a flat torque curve that provides satisfactory on-road performance. Their 98 HP of power and 163 Nm of maximum torque They are always willing in any circumstance. In addition, we have the possibility, optionally, of mounting one of the performance kits offered by the brand.
At the chassis level, the Harley-Davidson Softail chassis hides the rear suspension under the seat to maintain the classic look of a vintage rigid frame, while offering a totally modern ride. The rear monoshock includes hydraulic preload adjustment and 86 mm of travel. For its part, the 49 mm front fork has a double bending valve responsible for keeping the front wheel in contact with the road surface for safe handling.

Regarding the braking system, the Deadwood 2026 includes a 300 mm disc and a 292 mm diameter rear disc. These are perfectly integrated into the classic cast aluminum radial wheels shod with Dunlop tires in size 100/90B19 and 150/80B16, front and rear respectively. The set is assisted by a balanced technological compendium which includes:
- Straight/Curving Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS/C-ABS)
- Straight/Curving Traction Control System (TCS/C-TCS)
- Drag torque slip control in straight/curve line (DSCS/C-DSCS)
- Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)

To all of the above we must add the different selectable driving modes: “The driver can use the Mode button on the controller to change the active driving mode while driving or stopped,” explains the brand itself. The 2026 Deadwood is equipped with the following driving modes:
- Road Mode: Designed for everyday use, Road Mode offers balanced performance.
- Sport Mode: Classic Sport mode offers a smooth, flat torque curve, with increased torque at low and high speeds providing plenty of power in all gears and at any speed, making it comfortable, forgiving and easy to drive for days.
- Rain Mode: This mode is designed to give the driver greater confidence when driving in the rain or when traction is limited.

Equipment and finishes of the new Deadwood 2026
From the first glance we can see how the Deadwood 2026 is stripped of decorations and shiny finishes. The engine, exhaust, rear fender mounts, handlebar and riser, hand and foot controls, fork and front end covers, turn signals and headlight housing are finished in deep black.
To highlight the V-shape of the engine, only the lower rocker covers and pushrod tubes are chrome-plated. For its part, the spoked wheels and black rims reinforce the classic style. The padded individual seat has a height of 650 mm, exposing the rear fender.

Denim Black paint covers the front and rear fenders and fuel tank. The latter exhibits a teardrop-shaped design and is topped with a black console that houses a 5″ instrument panel. This displays an analog speedometer on a multi-function digital LCD screen. The driver of the 2026 Deadwood can use the Trip manual control button to navigate through the information available on the LCD screen.
Two connectors for the gearbox heater are located at the top of the rear fender, under the seat, for easy access. A USB-C charging port is located on the front left side of the motorcycle. The all-LED lighting is dominated by a seven-inch headlight with a distinctive ring, auxiliary fog lights and rear combination brake, position and turn signal lights.

The Deadwood 2026 model is only available in the United States and Canada with a suggested retail price of $17,999although it will not be until next August 7 when it makes its public debut at Harley-Davidson headquarters during the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in South Dakota.
