At a recent meeting of the Superbike Commissionheld at Donington Park, an agreement has been reached whereby some changes and updates will be implemented within WorldSBK. The entity announces that some of these decisions will be implemented immediately and that others will be mandatory in the 2027 season.

- Jorge Viegas (president of the FIM)

- Roland Berger (director of the FIM Technical Commission)
- Dominique Hebrard (FIM technical director)
- Svetlana Nazarova (coordinator of the FIM Speed Commission and secretary of the Superbike Commission).
Future changes set by the Superbike Commission
Looking ahead to next season, as established by the body, a specific rev limit will be introduced for each manufacturer, in addition to fuel flow limitations. This manufacturer-specific rev limit will be adjusted in 500 RPM intervals (up and down).
The rev limit will be controlled by the manufacturers software and monitored via the FIM/DWO rev register. This rev limit will be reviewed every two rounds. The initial data will be based on the RPM of each manufacturer.
Likewise, in 2027, fuel will be provided by the sole supplier contracted for the FIM Superbike World Championship and will meet the requirements established by FIM Fuel Category 1. A reduction in the noise limit will also be established in 2027, reducing it by three decibels to a maximum of 112 dB.
This is not all, since for 2028 the Superbike Commission has debated a new system of Ranked Concessions. It will be introduced that same year with a reformulation of the definition of these ranges. Finally, looking to 2030, The displacement limit will be increased to 1,200 cc for four-cylinder engines.
Changes for 2026: Pit entry, restarted races and more
Regarding the current season’s regulations, several updates will also be applied immediately after the Superbike Commission meeting. Starting with the entrance to the Pit Lane. In all sessions, including races, entering and exiting the Pit Lane is only permitted using the designated entry/exit point and its respective route, which is defined by the dashed white line, following the entrance path to the Pit Lane and crossing the designated timing point for the Pit Lane.
In all cases, the specific information communicated by Race Direction for each circuit applies in terms of defining prohibited routes. If a driver does not cross the broken white line or does not use the entire entry/exit path of Pit Lane, the Stewards may penalize at their discretion.
On the other hand, the Superbike Commission has established that to prevent riders who have been lapped more than twice from affecting the race of other competitors, or interfering with tire change strategies focused on achieving fast laps, “Any driver who enters Pit Lane during the race to make adjustments and who has two or more lost laps (that is, who has been lapped on more than one occasion by the race leader), will be prohibited from rejoining the race by Race Direction.”
Finally, the agreement also clarifies that, for Supersport, Sportbike and WorldWCR, a restarted race must have a minimum of five laps. A specific update for WorldSPB is also applied. Due to extreme heat conditions, it has been allowed to replace the stock radiators with larger radiators designed for competition.
