Triumph and MotoGP have officially presented the development of the new competition engine that will drive the Moto2 World Championship from the 2027 season. The project represents the most significant evolutionary leap in terms of performance since the British firm became the exclusive engine supplier for the category in 2019.

Triumph Moto2 2027 engine: new era and more power
Since the introduction of the 765cc triple-cylinder engine derived from the Street Triple RS in 2019, the collaboration between Triumph and Dorna Sports has completely transformed the intermediate class of the World Championship. The main objective has been to increase the air flow that enters the cylinders. A new cylinder head, with a completely redesigned low-inertia valve system and intake ducts optimized for greater flow, as well as a new combustion chamber design, contribute to a higher compression ratio and higher torque throughout the rev range.
Triumph has also redesigned the crankcases and all internal components to support the additional power and torque, ensuring maximum reliability once this engine hits the track. Together, these changes have also led to a total weight reduction of 2 kg.
From the track to the street
Everything has been optimized with a single objective: greater performance to usher in a new era in intermediate category racing. The arrival of the 2027 engine will require direct work with the championship’s constructors, who have been collaborating with Triumph for 12 months to adapt their frames, motivated by variations in the position of the air intake and the new block anchoring points.
