The Triumph Rocket 3 has become, by right, one of the most important standard bearers within the current range of the Hinckley firm. Undoubtedly, they are fully aware of this fact and perhaps that is why they have decided to start developing what will be the next generation of the model.
An evolution based on a technological increase at all levels, including a front radar module (initially), along with a second unit anchored to the rear of the motorcycle. Everything also indicates that the future version of this well-known “Macho-Bike” will also debut a complete new TFT instrument panel. There is still more; What is probably its most notable identifying feature is about to disappear… Can you guess?
The current generation Rocket 3
The latest images published in different international media offer us a clear and concise vision of what we can expect from the future Rocket 3. Although the launch date is not yet clear, it is most likely that we are at least a year away from such an event. Reviewing the evolution of the model in recent years, we can confirm that it was at the beginning of 2024 when Triumph unveiled what is its latest evolution to this day.
The current Rocket 3 Storm R and GT were then presented declaring “more power, better handling and a dark, gloomy color scheme.” In the center of the assembly, the enormous 2,458 cc, DOHC, liquid-cooled, 3-cylinder in-line engine shines with its own light. In fact we are facing “the largest production motorcycle engine in the world”as the brand declared at the time of launch.
Rocket 3 2028?: What we know
But since everything in this life can be improved, Triumph has put on its work suit and is already preparing what will clearly be the new generation of the model. The three images shared by SpeedWeek colleagues show us the beginning of a project that is evolving in all aspects. Among the main improvements that the new Rocket 3 will include, we can highlight:
- Front radar module: will serve as the basis for adaptive cruise control and an emergency braking assistant
- Possible front semi-active suspension system
- Improved ergonomics thanks to a higher handlebar
- Newly designed TFT screen
- Rear subframe remodeled to adapt to the new geometries
In addition to what was mentioned, the next Rocket 3 is very likely to end up mounting a rear radar module. They clarify from the Austrian media: “In the place where the taillight is located on the current model, an additional radar module will be installed in the future, which presumably monitors traffic behind the bike to alert the rider about, for example, vehicles in the blind spot.”
Other changes that are perceived at first glance in the aforementioned test mule will be related to the design of the fuel tank and the seat, as well as a larger volume passenger backrest. It is likely that changes to the suspension will also affect the rear axle. Finally, and as a big novelty, there would be the remodeling of the characteristic two-headlight front that the current Rocket 3 sports.
The final design of this element is not clear, although everything indicates that the classic configuration of double parallel optics will not be repeated as until now. All of this must be confirmed by the brand in the future, although it is more than likely that it will not be until the end of next year when the final version of the new Rocket 3 will be officially presented.
