MotoGP is going to start its most intense part of the season, and Fermín Aldeguer is going to do so by freeing himself from a burden both figuratively and literally. And the Murcian driver has undergone surgery in Barcelona to remove one of the screws that he had in his leg since, in pre-season, he suffered a training accident in which he fractured his left femur.
As a consequence of that fall at the Aspar Circuit and after undergoing surgery to fix the femur fracture that occurred, Aldeguer missed the official MotoGP preseason and also the first race. From there he began to recover, until in a new fall he suffered a fracture of the T7 vertebra and had to stay home again for two GPs.
However, once he returned to action, it was not his vertebra that caused him the most problems but the metal in his leg, and for which he decided to put himself in the hands of Doctor Ignacio Ginebreda to extract a screw.
Aldeguer will be in Japan
The operation, considered outpatient and after which Aldeguer returned home the same day, has been a first step in his full recovery. And there is still metal material left in his leg that, if everything goes as planned, will be removed once the season ends.
It will be then when the Murcian will be able to finish recovering 100% from the injury. What is striking is the moment chosen, just before the most stressful and compromising part of the season. This indicates the degree of pain and discomfort that Fermín has been suffering in recent weekends. A pain that, according to the pilot himself, will decrease by 90% with the extraction of the screw.
In any case and according to the information, Aldeguer will be present at the Japanese GP that takes place next week in Motegi. While that moment arrives, the Gresini pilot has been seen through his networks with pressotherapy sessions at home to accelerate recovery.
