Gloves are now mandatory on the road and AMV adds its free coverage to all its motorcycle insurance

Starting today, Thursday October 1e, the reform of the General Traffic Regulations comes into force, requiring both the rider and the passenger to ride a motorcycle on interurban roads. This new rule is of general interest for both those who ride motorcycles or mopeds and non-compliance will result in a fine of 200 euros.

AMV, adapting to the new road requirements imposed by the DGT, has decided to include glove coverage without extra cost in all its motorcycle insurance and for all its clients, current and future. This free coverage includes damage to gloves in the event of an accident.and represents a great step to help all bikers comply with the new regulations.

How the new regulations affect motorcycle gloves

Although the new regulations came into force just a few hours ago, at this time we still do not know specifically what a protective glove should be like. That said, what we must be very clear about is that when we ride a motorcycle, our hands are usually the first to suffer in the event of an accident. If we do not wear gloves we risk suffering cuts, scratches, abrasions, burns and all types of fractures.

In fact, according to data from the DGT, injuries to the hands and wrists, including the upper extremities, account for 30% of the total trauma suffered by motorcyclists in an accident. That is why we must point out that, although a level 1 glove offers serious protection for daily use in urban environments, level 2 makes more sense on the road.

AMV concerned about the needs of bikers

At this point it is worth putting AMV’s work within the two-wheeled sector in context. The company has been understanding the needs of bikers for more than half a century and that is why, in all of its insurance, essential protection elements for bikers such as helmets and airbag vests were already covered. Gloves are now added to this guarantee.

After the company’s latest statement, Monica Galerageneral director of AMV Spain, commented on the matter: “At AMV we have been understanding bikers for more than 50 years and adapting to their needs, creating specialized insurance for each of them. Therefore, we know how important their equipment is for a biker.”

“At AMV we already included helmet and airbag vest coverage free of charge in all our insurance modalities. Now, we go one step further, and we also include gloves in this same coverage, adapting our insurance offer to the reality of the biker’s day-to-day life, as we have always done, and even more so now, that as of October 1 they become mandatory equipment for pilots and passengers when traveling on interurban roads”he concludes.

Having said all this, if you are thinking about renewing your motorcycle insurance, you can visit the official AMV website to see first-hand the additional coverage for gloves that the brand now includes in its policies.

Finally and in relation to the new regulations: If you are interested in the vest, which generates as many doubts or more, you have it in an article to resolve questions. And we tell the origin of the reform in Goodbye to riding a motorcycle in any way.
