Triumph expands its successful 400 cc family with two new members who recover one of the most emblematic names of the brand. The new Bonneville T40 2027 and T40 Black transfer the proportions and character of the classic Bonneville to a more accessible platform, combining a 60s-inspired aesthetic with cutting-edge technology.
Both use the new 400 cc TR Series single-cylinder engine, specifically adapted to the needs of a Bonneville. The goal is not simply to offer a smaller displacement version, but to retain the relaxed character, abundant torque delivery and personality that have made the Bonneville one of Triumph’s most recognizable models.
The aesthetic recipe is equally faithful to tradition: teardrop-shaped tank, round headlight, spoked wheels, double rear shock absorber, long fenders and peashooter-type exhaust. All this is combined with careful execution and details typical of the larger displacement Bonnevilles.
Engine of the Triumph Bonneville T40 2027
The heart of the 2027 Bonneville T40 is a specific evolution of the Triumph TR Series 400 cc engine, a liquid-cooled single-cylinder that receives a redesigned cylinder head and a specific tune-up for this new application.
With 32 HP of maximum power at 7,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 36 Nm at 5,000 rpm, the Bonneville T40 prioritizes a forceful and accessible delivery at low and medium speeds. The configuration seeks to offer an intuitive throttle response and enough thrust to operate with ease both in the city and on the highway.
The character of the engine has also been worked on from an acoustic point of view. The peashooter-style muffler and lower idle speed contribute to providing a sound with greater personality, taking advantage of the characteristics of a single cylinder to enhance the Bonneville experience.

Both the Bonneville T40 2027 and the T40 Black are suitable for the A2 license, thus expanding the potential audience of one of Triumph’s historic names.
In addition, the engine is associated with five driving modes. Three of them are preconfigured – Road, Rain and Eco – while the other two can be customized. Each mode modifies throttle response, traction control and ABS to adapt behavior to usage conditions and rider preferences.
The electronic equipment also includes speed control as standard, a particularly interesting element for road trips.
Chassis, suspensions and brakes of the Triumph Bonneville T40 2027

The cycle part combines a classically inspired configuration with modern solutions. The 2027 Bonneville T40 uses a traditional style front fork and double rear shock absorber, an architecture that keeps one of the hallmarks of the Bonneville intact.
The spoke wheels use aluminum rims and steel spokes, measuring 18 inches at the front and 17 at the rear. In addition to reinforcing the classic aesthetic, the lightweight wheels help maintain agile response and easy handling.
The riding position is upright and relaxed, with handlebars and footpegs designed to provide a natural posture. The one-piece seat maintains the characteristic Bonneville ribbed design and offers generous padding for rider and passenger.

The seat height is 790 mm, although Triumph offers a low seat as an accessory that reduces this figure to 770 mm. The curb weight is 191 kg.
In braking we find a front disc accompanied by a two-piston caliper and metal hoses. The ABS optimized for cornering takes into account the angle of inclination of the motorcycle to adapt its performance, providing extra safety while driving.
The central stand is part of the standard equipment, facilitating both parking and chain maintenance and cleaning operations.
Technology and equipment of the Triumph Bonneville T40 2027

One of the most striking aspects of the new Bonneville T40 2027 is the way in which Triumph has integrated a high technological load without breaking with the classic aesthetics.
The protagonist is a new 4-inch circular TFT screen, integrated into a traditional-looking instrument panel. The pilot can even select a display mode called Heritage, which reproduces a look closer to classic analog watches.
The screen allows you to view information such as the gear engaged, ambient temperature, fuel level or indicators, in addition to controlling connectivity functions. Up to five customizable widgets can be configured to quickly access the most used features.

Connectivity with the mobile phone is standard and includes control of calls, contacts and music playback through the button panel located on the left side of the handlebar.
Full navigation is also included via the Triumph Navigation app, with mapping displayed directly on the TFT screen. The system allows you to plan routes, add waypoints, save routes, import GPX files and share routes with other motorcyclists.
The lighting is completely Full-LED, including a specific light signature and a system that automatically switches between daytime running light and low beam. The turn signals incorporate automatic disconnection and the rear light has an emergency braking warning function.
Added to all this is tilt-sensitive traction control, along with ABS optimized for cornering. An unusual feature on a 400 cc motorcycle and which places the new Bonnevilles at a technological level considerably higher than their classic aesthetics might lead one to believe.
Design, colors and options of the 2027 Triumph Bonneville T40

The 2027 Bonneville T40 maintains an image that is especially faithful to the family’s DNA. The teardrop-shaped tank, rubber knee protectors, Triumph emblem, round headlight, spoked wheels and peashooter exhaust build an instantly recognizable silhouette.
The finishes also play a leading role. Triumph uses high-quality paint and hand-painted decorative lines, while different components receive chrome or brushed aluminum finishes.
The 2027 Bonneville T40 will be available in three combinations:
- Aegean Blue / Fusion White
- Meriden Blue / Tangerine Orange
- New England White / Jet Black

The T40 Black, for its part, takes the same concept into darker territory. Its Matt Pewter Gray / Matt Phantom Black combination is accompanied by black wheels, engine covers with a black finish and also darkened exhaust and collector.
Triumph will also offer a wide range of original accessories, including low and comfort seats, personalization elements and side saddlebags.

Both models will have a four-year factory warranty with no mileage limit and maintenance intervals of up to 16,000 km, which helps reduce operating costs.
