Kawasaki gives us a small preview of its next model, and it is an old acquaintance

“Destination: Adrenaline. Coming soon…” This is the brief message that Kawasaki has left his followers with the latest teaser video published by the brand on its Instagram social network. In a filming of just a few seconds we can visualize the different scenarios where its future road model circulates. Simultaneously, you can hear the roar of what is almost certainly a four-cylinder engine with high displacement and performance.

The possible new Kawasaki models for 2027

There are various possibilities around the new Kawasaki model, including a Versys 1100 renewed and more powerful or a Ninja 1100SX SE 2027 developed under the same technical recipe as its adventure cut sister. Another possibility would be a Kawasaki Z900 SE equipped with specific equipment focused on more tourist use, since at the end of the video it is clearly seen how the front of this mysterious model will mount a front dome.

However, taking a look at the range of models that the Akashi brand currently has and after voting in the editorial team itself, we opted more for the imminent launch of a new Versys 900. The reason for this option is very simple from a purely commercial point of view. In addition, the first images of what is surely the long-awaited crossover model of the Japanese brand were recently leaked.

Versys 900: what we know

We mentioned in the previous paragraph the commercial weight that a model like the Versys 900 would have in the offer that Kawasaki currently offers to its customers. This, within the “Adventure Tourer” segment, has the Versys 1100 and Versys 650 ranges with up to 5 different variants. In between the two, there is nothing. And it is for this reason, mainly, that the aforementioned Versys 900 makes all the logic in the world and it is very possible that it is the model heard in the brand’s teaser video.

A theory that gains even more strength after learning about the images captured by some tourists’ cameras of test mules while they were enjoying a vacation in Montenegro. Some details that were elucidated clearly speak of a model with a clear tourist focus. In any case, we review the fundamental aspects that a Versys 900 should have if it finally materializes.

What we can expect

Following the philosophy of the Versys saga, a 900 variant should include, among others, 17″ alloy wheels on both axles shod with 120/70-17 road tires on the front and 180/55-17 on the rear axle. Also a silhouette of clear inspiration crossover where the ride comfort and the well-known versatility of these acronyms are clearly manifested in its design language.

Mechanically, there is no doubt that Kawasaki would use its well-known 948 cc, 4-stroke in-line four-cylinder, the same as the Z900, with a final power of around 120 HP and about 100 Nm of torque. To manage these performance figures you would have a good technological arsenal, including a KTRC traction control system, adjustable power modes and integrated driving modes.

Likewise, in the cycle part we could find some surprises compared to its range sisters, mainly starring the arrival of a new tubular steel chassis. The aluminum swingarm and double arm would be maintained and, quite possibly, would inherit both the suspension and braking system currently equipped with its older sister, the Versys 1100.

As for its most notable heights, at the time there was talk of a pilot seat positioned about 840 mm from the ground and a curb weight which should not exceed 230 kilos in curb order in any case. This figure would include a fuel tank with at least 20 liters capacityguaranteeing the model a wide range of autonomy.

Price and availability

We remain faithful to our initial theory regarding the presentation and future marketing of a new Versys 900: Kawasaki will most likely make the model official this fall (EICMA 2026 could be the chosen place), to end up launching the model in the early stages of 2027. On the other hand, there is the final price, possibly in the range of 12,000 euros for the standard version and something more for a long-awaited SE variant.
