It has only been a few weeks since the announcement of the TOP 1 Ack Attack team and his intention to overcome the 400 mph barrier in the salt flats of Bolivia and we already have a second candidate running to make this controversial milestone a reality: GreyhoundLSR. He will also have the services of one of the most legendary drivers in the history of motorcycling, Peter Hickman.
This will be in charge of piloting the land speed motorcycle specifically built by the British engineering team, during the tests and record attempts in Hakskeen Bread, South Africa. Regarding his participation in this adventure, he himself has declared: “Throughout my career, I have always been drawn to projects that break the mold, and GreyhoundLSR is doing just that.”
GreyhoundLSR and RAF Motorsport join forces in this project
Last July GreyhoundLSR and RAF Motorsport announced their collaboration agreement to bring the land speed record back to Great Britain. In addition, they have an ace up their sleeve since the beginning of the project. We talked, of course, about Peter Hickman joining the project as a pilot. After making this alliance official, Adam Fawsittco-founder of GreyhoundLSR commented:
“Project 400 is about more than breaking a record. It’s about inspiring the next generation to believe in what’s possible and giving them a front-row seat to world-class engineering.”. For your part Paul Lloydpresident of the RAF Motor Sports Association, noted: “We are pleased to announce this partnership…GreyhoundLSR and RAF Sport will demonstrate that the greatest achievements come from people working together to push the limits and inspire others to do the same.”

Hickman goes for 400 mph
Peter’s participation in the project was later made official, with the goal of breaking the land speed record of 376.363 mph, thus becoming the first team to exceed 400 mph on two wheels. We must remember that The current brand was established in 2010 by Rocky Robinson, piloting the famous Top 1 ACK Attack.
16 years later, and after several previous attempts by the latter, GreyhoundLSR joins the race to reach this speed milestone. With Peter Hickman now confirmed as pilot, the project enters a new phase as development accelerates towards testing and the team’s subsequent attempt to rewrite the history books.

In recent months GreyhoundLSR has shared the development process of this ambitious project, offering access “to the engineering, testing and teamwork required to achieve speeds never before achieved by a British motorcycle”, just as they themselves state.
The latest images published on their social networks show us how advanced the project is, to the point that Peter Hickman is already carrying out positioning tests inside the main structure of the vehicle. Its creators explain: “After months of designing, scanning, measuring and developing, we finally get to see Peter physically inside #Project400’s biker cell and how tight he really is.”

They conclude: “Peter’s position has helped shape the chassis, controls, packaging and aerodynamic shape around it from the beginning. Now, for the first time, you can really see what it’s like. Could you imagine being that tight on a bike with a 400mph target?”
