It is very likely that in 2025 we will see a new one Golden Bol. But, on this occasion the epic Sling will arrive based on the new CB1000 Hornet. It is not a new project, as we all know, in 2020, Sling presented the CB-F Concepta retro design model inspired by the legendary Golden Bol.
After being cancelled, this concept could now materialize in a production model based on the Hornet. In Japan, the signs are increasingly pointing towards this possibility.
Let us remember that the iconic models Golden Bolwhich marked a milestone in design from the late 1970s and especially in the 1980s, with their powerful four-cylinder engines and displacements of 750 to 1,100 cc. Obviously, these machines have become classics, highly sought after and coveted.
With or without the name Golden Bolin the land of the rising sun, evidence of a new model is growing, the Honda CB1000 “retro”. Of course, this new Sling would incorporate design elements characteristic of the epic surname Golden Bol.
What do we know about the upcoming Honda Bol d’Or?
According to the latest reports, the new Honda CB1000 Hornetwhose launch has been postponed until 2025, will serve as the technical basis for this new CB1000 “retro”. This would imply a water-cooled inline four-cylinder engine, with a sporting heritage from the Fireblade and a power close to the 150 HPmounted on a simple chassis. It would include a steel frame, an inverted telescopic fork at the front and a two-sided aluminium swingarm with a central shock absorber at the rear.
The classic two-arm swingarm of the new Honda CB1000 “Retro” will probably be the main difference compared to the CB-F Concept of 2020, which featured a single-sided swingarm. Initially, the Honda CB1000R was the basis for the CB-F Concept. However, as we are telling you, it is expected that the CB1000R be replaced by the new one Honda CB1000 Hornet in 2025. The latter, with a two-arm swingarm.
It is not yet clear how the new Honda CB1000 “Retro” will differ from the CB-F Concept. It is rumored that the future retro version, manufactured at the plant in Sling in Kumamoto (Japan), it could be destined exclusively for the Japanese market. Something similar to what happened with the neoretro of Slingthe Hawk 11which was launched in 2022 only for the local market. By the way, there is also speculation about a new CB400 “retro”, also specific to Japan, where 400 cc have a great tradition due to local regulations.
Right now, the Honda CB1300 Bol d’Or is still available in Japanese dealerships. Although these retro 1,300cc models have not been sold in Europe for some time. However, the new model is expected to be Honda CB1000 “retro” replaces the CB1300with or without the designation “Golden Bol«.
