Although Mutt Motorcycles is working to make a name for itself in our country, some of its creations have not yet reached its catalogue in our market. One of them is the Mutt Stravaig 401. It is a new addition to the catalogue of the Birmingham-based firm and, also, the company’s largest displacement motorcycle.
Until now they had been gaining a foothold in the market with smaller cafe racer and scrambler style motorcycles and now they are increasing their repertoire with this Mutt Stravaig 401 with which they are fully entering the fight for A2 motorcycles.
The Mutt Stravaig 401 may look familiar, here’s why
As we said, it is the largest motorcycle from the firm to date and the Stravaig 401 is fitted with a 401 cc twin-cylinder engine with eight valves and liquid cooling and double overhead camshaft. Thanks to this it reaches a maximum power of 36.2 HP, a very correct figure for a motorcycle of its style. Regarding the torque, it declares 32 Nm at 6,500 rpm, so these are also reasonable figures.
In fact, as is often the case in these cases, the Mutt Stravaig 401 is not a completely new bike, but is derived from the Sinnis Terrain 380, which in turn was derived from an early Zongshen adventure. But there are changes that give it a more modern touch, such as the side cases and topcase, the protections, the adjustable screen, USB and 12 V charging sockets, a TFT screen with tyre pressure control and, of course, the front design.
As an aspirational adventure, it has 21-inch wheels at the front and 17 at the rear, has a seat-to-ground height of 810 mm and, perhaps its least positive part, a final weight of 215 kg in running order which makes it heavy compared to its rivals. To counteract this, it has inverted front forks, radial calipers and two front discs. As for the price, there on the other side of the English Channel, it is situated around 6,000 euros at the current exchange rate.
