At the end of the 70s, the result of the well -known oil crisis, brands were looking for mobility alternatives that were economic and efficient in equal parts. A good example of this is the Honda Expresslaunched to the North American market in 1977. Known in internal code under the acronym NC50, later it had up to three generations more than would include some improvements at the level of equipment and finishes.
Today it is not difficult to find any of these cyclomotor for sale where they were sold. However, it is not common to find a copy like the one that has recently been on sale in a Facebook group. We talked about a Honda Express of 1979, belonging to the second batch of the model, and a practically unique collection state.
Honda Express in detail
Halfway between an offroad bicycle of the time and a brief motorcycle, the Honda Express enjoys that charm that, with the passing of the years, to which we were lucky to enjoy this type of initiation mounts in our youth, brings us fantastic memories of that time. While this particular model was not marketed in these parts, it has enough similarities, for example, with the Mobylette that we could enjoy in our country.
As we have learned, the Honda Express was sold between 1977 and 1983, under four different generations: Express (NC50), Express II (NA50), Express SR (NX50) and Urban Express (NU50). All of them were driven by a simple 49 cc mechanics, air refrigerated and associated with automatic transmission. From here the Japanese brand was improving some aspects related to finishes and equipment throughout the commercial life of the model.
Among them, a larger and larger seat, new more ergonomic handlebar or a fuel tank with some more capacity fuel was included. This is the case of the second series of the model to which this Honda Express of 1979 belongs, which is for sale in Sweet Rock, Oregon for a price of $ 3,500 and announced in the Vintage Japanese Motorcycles for Sale Facebook group.
As detailed by its owner in the description of the publication itself: “This Honda Express 2 has only 49 miles. It has new tires and cameras. The carburetor has just cleaned and refine. It works perfectly. It was last recorded in 1980 as can be seen in the registration. Probably, I will never find one in a better state with less miles.”
