We have been listening to a Yamaha V4 of MotoGP for a few months, that the Japanese brand will give up its classic engine with four online configuration to opt for a V4 like the rest of the grill.
From the brand itself they have shared certain information, but rather fair in this regard, letting the general imagination that thinks that a MotoGP V4 is not only viable, but already exists. And it may be so, so much that in the tests last week that we know that they took place in the circuit Ricardo Tormo de Chate, it was said that perhaps they could have made that v4 debut.
Everything was in rumors until now a video of Paddock GP has appeared in which, the supposed Yamaha V4 of MotoGP, is on track. According to publications and rumors, it would be more or less than the first images, or the motorcycle in its entirety, or of a current M1 adapted to be able to carry that engine inside.
With a simple “ear” we had doubts that the Yamaha V4 of MotoGP had come to the track, but then we went one step further
Do not forget that one of the features of the four online engine is that its configuration is wider and, therefore, the chassis too. And setting up a V4 engine would imply making more changes to the motorcycle that, with these shots, are totally impossible to appreciate.
But what this video is for is to leave us with more doubts. And while some claim that we are facing the New Yamaha V4 of MotoGP, for others the sound is more than a four in line with CrossPlane ignition.
The sound of sound and distance makes it very difficult to know if it is true that we are witnessing those first laps. And in addition the microphone of the phone is saturated, so it is not reliable either. But the truth is that if we listen to other occasions in which it has been possible to record the Yamaha, as in a Mugello test last year and that it is the second video, and we compare it with the Honda that appear in it, it gives the feeling that the M1 continue to have a peculiar sound.
As the quality of the video is not good, we cannot draw conclusions, but the most hoarse sound characteristic of the current M1 seems to continue to be present, especially in the shots where the sound does not saturate. In any case it is tremendously complicated to draw conclusions, so it leaves us more doubts than certainties.
Even so, and how our abilities come to where they arrive, we have decided to pass the video for an AI, to see if analyzing and comparing it could shed some light. His verdict has been brutal and rules out that it is a V4 engine after analyzing the audio wave format.
The technical capacities that artificial intelligence has and we do not allow it to perceive that the sound is clean, regular and acute with a uniform pulse, and that the “snoring” of a V4 with a cross -draft is not perceived. Therefore, and as much as the technical part hurts, it tells us no, that the MotoGP Yamaha V4 has not gone on track.

Auditory and visual observations:
Very clean, regular and acute sound: that is usually characteristic of a 4 online engine (I4), especially on sports motorcycles.
Very uniform pulse: V4 often have a more marked or irregular “beat”, depending on the crankshaft bench angle and configuration.
The typical “snoring” or “gallop” of a V4 with cross -draft is not perceived.
Preliminary conclusion:
Based on the auditory pattern and the waveform, the engine that is heard in the video seems more online (i4) than a V4.
