Buenos Aires (Argentina) will have new restrictions for motorcycle users within the framework of the Antimotochorros Law. With this measure, which will be in force in different areas and schedules, two users will be prohibited from moving on the same motorcycle.
This new measure has completed an existing since 2019, in which all motorcycle users are obliged to carry the “patent” both in the helmet and in the vest, and that is something that the Ministry of Security of the province of Buenos Aires recognizes that it has not been fulfilled.
That is why they will carry out new restrictions, which will be stronger in certain areas of the province, although it will be enabled in the 135 municipalities that make up the province. At the bottom of the matter is to improve citizen security, as many robberies occur with the motorcycle as a vehicle of the thieves themselves.
It is for this reason that the measures will be more restrictive although, yes, they will be applied after the prior request of the mayors of each of the municipalities after carrying out an evaluation of the specific needs. For the same reason, these measures will be limited to specific zones or schedules, and it is not something that will happen throughout the Buenos Aires territory.

In any case, this prohibition is only part of the measures taken, which will be completed with the renewal of a third of the police fleet. This seeks to continue advancing in security, and that is that between January and March of this year there were 234 homicides, a figure that although it seems lies improves that of previous years.
To put in context the security problem, in Spain with its 49 million inhabitants throughout 2024 there were 348 murders, while the province of Buenos Aires is around 18 million inhabitants in 2024, and in just a quarter accumulated 270.
Curiously, another country like Peru has also launched this same measure (among others), although in this case during the alarm state for Metropolitan Lima and Callao, which will be valid for 30 days.
