Nicolo Bulega continues to be the lord and master of the 2026 Superbike World Championship. The Ducati rider has once again decisively prevailed in the championship’s visit to the Czech Republic, achieving three new victories to reach 19 consecutive victories and expanding his lead over Iker Lecuona, who consolidates his position in second position. Of course, this time Iker was closer.
SBK Czech Republic – Race 1: Lecuona pushes, but Bulega wins again
The first race of the weekend got off to an uneven start after a heavy fall by Danilo Petrucci on the first lap, which caused a red flag. The Italian was taken to hospital, where serious injuries were ruled out but he was declared unfit for the rest of the weekend.
In the second start, Bulega again maintained the lead, although this time Iker Lecuona took little time to place second and begin to pressure his teammate. The Valencian managed to stay close to Bulega for a good part of the race and ended up starring in the most intense fight that Bulega is remembered for this season.
The tension grew lap after lap until Lecuona even took the lead with just a few laps remaining. However, Bulega responded in the final stretch, regaining first position in the final curve of the straight and ended up securing another victory. Lecuona had to settle for second place, while Yari Montella closed the podium although, as usual lately, far from the two official Ducati riders.
Behind, Garrett Gerloff had his best result since his arrival at Kawasaki after finishing fourth after an intense fight with Alberto Surra, sanctioned with a Long Lap Penalty after a contact with Sam Lowes. Axel Bassani took the Bimota to fifth place ahead of Baldassarri and his teammate, Alex Lowes.
Andrea Locatelli finished eighth just ahead of Surra and with Manzi completing a top 10 from which the second and last of the Spaniards, Xavi Vierge, was left out. And this weekend Álvaro Bautista did not participate after a fall in FP3 in which he fractured one of his ankles.
SBK Czech Republic – Superpole Race: Bulega also makes mistakes, but knows how to react
The Superpole Race started with what seemed to be an opportunity for the rest to stop Bulega’s streak. And he made a mistake in the first corner that caused him to lose several positions, although far from getting nervous he reacted and began to regain places.
In just two laps he had already regained the lead after first overtaking Yari Montella and then Lecuona. From that moment on he once again imposed his pace to progressively escape and add his eighteenth consecutive victory in WorldSBK.
Lecuona finished second again without being able to keep up with the pace of the leader in the final laps, while Montella once again secured third place and confirmed a particularly solid weekend in Most.
Lorenzo Baldassarri finished fourth and distanced himself from the battle between Alberto Surra and Garrett Gerloff for fifth position, with constant overtaking practically until the end and which were decided in favor of Surra. Mackenzie, Bridewell and Alex Lowes completed the points qualifying spots.
SBK Czech Republic – Race 2: Bulega closes the plenary session and further increases his record
The last race of the weekend left the same result ahead, although again with Lecuona pushing even harder. After a perfect start by Bulega, he managed to open a gap in front of Iker in the first laps, although the Spaniard then gradually closed the gap as the race progressed.
Even so, the championship leader managed to take the victory and raise the streak to 19 consecutive races. It also means the 15th win this season, which is more than what he achieved in all of 2025.
Lecuona finished second again and continues to accumulate podiums without yet achieving that first victory that he has been chasing for some time. Yari Montella once again completed the podium and closed the Czech Republic event with a full podium finish.
Once again, the most intense fight was behind, especially in the fight for fifth place between Alberto Surra and Garrett Gerloff. Both made several overtakes in the final laps until the American finally managed to overtake the Italian in the final stretch to take the position. Alex Lowes finished seventh after also getting close to the fight in the closing stages.
Behind them Bassani, Locatelli and Bridewell closed a top 10 that Xavi Vierge improved by finishing eleventh. After the Czech Republic round it is the turn of MotorLand Aragón, which will host the sixth event of the year from May 29 to 31.
