If you’ve been waiting for the Ducati enduro bike, we have some good news and some bad news. The good news is that Tony Cairoli has confirmed to his colleagues at MCN that Ducati is working on it and that it will be available for purchase. He has also confirmed that it will be road legal. And the bad news? The bad news is that you’ll have to keep waiting until 2027, when it is scheduled to go into production.
We have already seen what the Ducati Desmo450 MX is capable of, which is in the development phase with Cairoli as one of its riders, and it is not leaving anyone indifferent. Borgo Panigale has taken it seriously and although we know that the bike will not go into production, if there are no changes, until 2025, we have already seen what it is capable of.
As for the Ducati enduro, which will surely be called the Ducati Desmo450 with a surname to describe it, what we know is that in principle it would use part of the base of the cross bike.
First will come the 250 cross, then the Ducati enduro
If you’re wondering why Ducati is going to wait two years to release its enduro bike, the answer may be that they want to launch the 250 cross bike first. It’s the next step after the launch of the 450, so logic says that we’ll have the Desmo450 MX available next year, the Desmo250 MX in 2026 and then the Ducati 450 enduro in 2027 and, who knows, maybe a 250 version too.
In any case, what is certain is that the motocross legend is still working hard on the cross bike, while Antoine Meo is already starting to test some solutions more focused on enduro, based on the motocross bike. According to Cairoli himself, these are just a few adjustments, but he obviously won’t go into details.
So if you want to compete with a Ducati enduro, you know that you can do it, but you also know that you have to stay in shape for the next three years to get there. It’s definitely worth it.
