The latest news related to CFMOTO have a protagonist in the form of a new model: the 550MT 2027. After some images of camouflaged test mules were leaked, some leading international media assume that the evolution of the model will be aimed mainly at improving its general capabilities. The idea is to be able to maintain the philosophy applied so far in the 450MT, but offering that extra power and standard equipment that some fans miss in the latter.
The new 550MT and an already known recipe
It was last summer when the first details of a possible 550MT were announced. At the same time, the imminent launch of the new 550CL-C was announced, based on the 450CL-C marketed until then. The most notable thing, and in turn related to its future sister ADV, lies precisely in the increase in the displacement of the well-known parallel twin-cylinder engine equipped with liquid cooling, Bosch electronic injection and crankshaft set at 270º.
To do this, the Chinese brand has increased its internal dimensions from 72 mm × 55.2 mm to the current ones. 74mm × 61.2mmdeclaring a final displacement of 526cc. At the same time, the compression ratio has also been increased to 12.5:1. The end result is a power of 53 HP at 9,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 51 Nmsignificantly improving the figures declared by the “four and a half” variant.
Regarding the changes and improvements that CFMOTO has implemented on this platform, the brand itself explains: “The system has undergone a profound evolution, with meticulous refinement of 12 modules, including valves, crankshaft and clutch. More than 80% of the main components have been completely redesigned, resulting in higher combustion efficiency, faster power response and a significant jump in the vehicle’s overall performance.”
What we can expect from the model
Taking into account the changes that affect the mechanics, now we have to discover what improvements the 550MT will have compared to the current “four fifty” that is sold in half the world. To begin with, the model is expected to arrive with a reinforced rear subframewith the possibility of anchoring a kit of side cases and a large-capacity rear trunk.
Likewise, in order to improve ride comfort, CFMOTO would also be working on the design of key elements in this section such as the seat and the front windshield. Regarding the first, from the Italian media Insella, they are betting on the arrival of a more padded padding than that used in the current model. Regarding the front element, this would have been redesigned to optimize air flow.
Other notable improvements in the equipment of the future 550MT would be:

As we can see, CFMOTO is very clear about what the focus of the next evolution of its current 450MT will be: same off-road philosophy and a substantial improvement in the model’s road capabilities. In addition, the brand will most likely offer Standard and Rally versionsand these in turn should be customizable with a wide range of optional accessories.
Having said all this, it will not be until next year when the 550MT reaches the different markets where the Asian company has a presence. Let’s think that the aforementioned 550CL-C, today, is still available exclusively for the Chinese market… Therefore, everything suggests that a similar commercial policy will be carried out with our protagonist today.
