CFMoto’s electric sports car reveals its details

In recent months we have been learning about some ideas that CFMoto has been working on for some time now. Among them, the conception of a electric sports bike that could materialize in a street model much sooner than we think. The level of detail of the latest images leaked from the patent registry leaves no room for doubt: The Chinese brand is well advanced in the project and it is likely that they will surprise us with their final version sooner rather than later.

CFMoto electric sports car: What we know

As we have already mentioned, last summer we reported on the new patent for an electric sports car that CFMoto seemed to be working on. It was clear then how the Asian brand is preparing for a future in which electricity will no longer be an exception. As a novelty in those first design attempts, the idea of integrating the batteries as part of the chassis and passive cooling solutions stood out to avoid unnecessary complexities.

Now, thanks to the publication of new images, we have the possibility of analyzing the concept in a more rigorous way. Mainly, focusing on the key aspects of its design. It is precisely here where CFMoto surprises by employing innovative technical solutions within the plug-in segment. Although the central position of both the battery pack and the motor is maintained, we can see that the latter would be quite far back in its anchoring.

The idea is clear when defining the final design of this plug-in sports car: Minimum weight and size, and this includes trying to make the set as compact as possible. To do this we see, for example, how the rear monoshock is anchored directly from the swingarm to the rear of the main structure that covers the battery pack. Likewise, the motor itself is integrated just below it and screwed to the bottom part of it.

The third element that is directly connected to the cage in charge of housing the batteries is the subframe of the motorcycle itself. A pair of mechanized plates, installed laterally, are in turn responsible for serving as a support point for all the elements mentioned above. The rider’s footpegs are also anchored to them and at the bottom of one of them we can see the parking leg itself.

Although it is not clear whether the transmission would be by chain or belt (as specified in the descriptive text of the patent), in the images of the patent registry the choice is made to use the latter system. Also striking are the two side slats that CFMoto incorporates to reinforce the main structure. These are bolted to both the aforementioned machined aluminum plates and the steering head using an auxiliary element.

As explained by Cycle World, both “the wheels, brakes, and forks appear to come directly from the CFMoto 450SS, which could indicate that the bike’s performance will be on the same level as that 51-horsepower, 375-pound machine” of weight. Now it only remains to know how serious CFMoto is with the project and if they will soon have an electric sports car in their model range.
