Ducati DesertX 2026 – Technical Data Sheet, Photos and Price

Ducati presents the second generation of the DesertX 2026the motorcycle that marked the entry of the Borgo Panigale manufacturer into the world of the most demanding off-road riding thanks to its 21-inch front wheel. The second generation of DesertX 2026 is the result of extensive experience and feedback gained during years of development and competition in the most challenging terrain.

The new DesertX 20226 is redesigned from the ground up around the new Ducati V2 engine and its monocoque chassis to be more modern, more powerful and capable of improving the driving skills of any rider, from the simple amateur to the off-road professional. In addition, it includes a more efficient suspension and a new, more ergonomic and lighter fuel tank.

Ducati DesertX 2026 engine

The new 890 cc Ducati V2 is the lightest twin-cylinder engine with four valves per cylinder ever manufactured by Ducati and, thanks to the IVT variable intake timing system, unique in its segment, it provides generous power throughout the entire range of use with a quick response every time the throttle is opened. The brand declares a final power of 110 HP at 9,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 92 Nm at 7,000 revolutions with a more sustained curve than the previous model: 70% of the maximum value is already available at 3,000 rpm.

Gear ratios designed specifically for the 2026 DesertX offer shorter first four gears and a longer sixth gear to improve fuel economy and comfort during quick transfers. The new Ducati Quick Shift 2.0 allows more direct and precise gear changes, and by not having external sensors, it is less exposed to impacts, mud and dust.

The monocoque chassis, unique in its segment and developed specifically for the DesertX 2026, uses the engine as a structural element and also acts as an airbox, guaranteeing maximum compactness and increasing the rigidity of the chassis to improve maneuverability and intuitive driving.

The rear trellis frame is a clear reference to Ducati’s stylistic tradition. Its design facilitates access to engine components, facilitating operations and reducing maintenance costs. The aluminum swingarm, for its part, has been developed specifically for the DesertX and guarantees the necessary resistance to face any obstacle.

The braking system is Brembo, with M4.32 monobloc calipers, new 305 mm discs, specific pads and an axial pump with a newly designed lever. The suspension is provided by KYB with a 46 mm inverted front fork, fully adjustable with independent settings on both legs and 230 mm wheel travel. At the rear we have a fully adjustable monoshock with remote preload adjustment and 220 mm of travel between stops

The assembly, with a declared empty weight of 207 kilogramsrests on radial type wheels shod with Pirelli Scorpion Rally Street tires in sizes 90/90-21” and 150/70-18”. Other notable data in this section are, for example, having a new polymer fuel tank of 18 liters thinner and lighter.

In addition, its structure places the fuel volume very low, thus reducing the height of the motorcycle’s center of gravity and improving its handling and maneuverability. This is also helped by a seat height of 880mmwhich can be reduced to 840 mm by adopting the lowered seat and suspension kit.

Equipment and finishes of the Ducati DesertX 2026

Aesthetically, the side view of the motorcycle, the cut of the fairing and the set of front lights reinterpret the concepts of the previous model in a more modern and dynamic way. Solutions such as ducts that direct air flow to improve thermal comfort and the more stylized fuel tank protected by plastic covers make the bike more suitable for off-road use and improve its aesthetics.

The tail has a technical and minimalist design. It allows you to install accessories such as an auxiliary tank, passenger handles and racks for side cases, leaving all the most important technical elements of the DesertX 2026 in view, such as the progressive rear suspension. The absence of body panels and the taillight design further emphasize the bike’s off-road personality.

Ducati has worked on some key aspects of the motorcycle, such as ergonomics when driving off-road. The new ergonomic triangle has been defined by moving the footpegs rearward and the seat and handlebars forward, resulting in a less seated position for the rider, which improves sporty riding on the road and control of the bike off it.

The side panels are designed to complement body movements and feature a texture that increases grip and feel with the bike, making standing riding easy and fun. The front fender is positioned higher than the previous model to provide greater clearance above the tire and allow for greater mud buildup without locking the front wheel when driving over difficult terrain.

The horizontal instrument panel, with the standard utility bar, frees up space at the top of the fairing for mounting navigation instruments and offers greater visibility of the area directly in front of the bike, allowing obstacles to be more accurately identified when riding standing up off-road.

In terms of electronics, the new Ducati DesertX 2026 is equipped with a state-of-the-art electronic package based on a 6-axis inertial platform and developed specifically for off-road use. This system detects roll, lean and yaw in real time, allowing fast, precise and calibrated intervention of all controls, such as Cornering ABS, Ducati Traction Control (DTC), Ducati Wheelie Control (DWC) and Engine Brake Control (EBC).

Each of them can be adjusted to multiple intervention levels, allowing the configuration to be adapted to any situation, favoring performance in sports driving, on or off road, or stability and safety in touring use. Each electronic control is specifically configured within the six predefined Riding Modes (Sport, Touring, Urban, Wet and the two designed for off-road use: Enduro and Rally) to modify the behavior of the DesertX according to the situation and, of course, the rider can modify them to personalize each mode according to their driving style.

All information is displayed on the new and more complete 5″ TFT instrument panel with a resolution of 800 x 480 and two USB ports as standard. The 2026 DesertX has four levels of cornering ABS. ABS can be disabled for off-road use, only in Enduro and Rally driving modes. In addition to all of the above, the brand has an extensive Ducati Performance catalog to improve the DesertX 2026, where we can find everything from a rear auxiliary tank or a soft bag kit without frames developed in collaboration with Mosko Moto.
