Dunstall Kit 1974 Norton Commando

The 1970s were extraordinary in many ways, and one of them had to do with the many tuners who put their own spin on and increased the performance of production bikes. One of them was Dunstall, and one of his creations is this Dunstall Kit 1974 Norton Commando which is for sale.

Those were different times and it was relatively easy to find preparations of this style, and even other much more daring ones. But Dunstall focused more on preparing the bikes to bring them closer to what would be the preparation for competition, but still able to be ridden on the street.

The proof is simple: this Dunstall Kit 1974 Norton Commando, which is for sale, has a series of modifications that make it clear what we are talking about. The level of preparation is so high that we are 100% convinced that many of the Norton Commandos that were still able to compete at that time were not as “loaded” as this one.

The engine preparation of this Dunstall Kit 1974 Norton Commando is superlative

Let’s start with the engine, because the transformation it underwent is incredible. Inside, the crankshaft, connecting rod bearings, rods, exhaust valves, springs, cylinder bores, oil pump, ignition system, pistons, primary transmission and gearbox were changed.

Nowadays we would only see this preparation in a superbike.

Outside, the carburettor, the throttle, the Dunstall exhausts, the silencers (Decibe), the footrest supports, the footrests, the half-handlebars replacing the handlebars… were changed. And also, all the aesthetic changes that are the ones that can attract attention at first sight. Because the fairing, the tank, the panels and the side covers are also original from the preparation.

Despite all this, the bike is perfectly legal to ride and, in fact, it has been doing so, as the odometer shows 6,666 miles or, in other words, 10,727 kilometers.

A limited use for a bike that is up for auction and for which the reserve price has not yet been reached. However, as it is for sale on eBay you can settle the deal for 12,500 dollars, at the current exchange rate 11,344 euros. A more than reasonable price for a unique piece among the unique.
