More than three years have passed since Mariano RomanCurrent CEO of Fantic, announced its new future plans. These passed, initially, by carrying out different changes at all levels within the brand, as well as the creation of new models that would cover other segments, including that of the cyclomotor.
Then Roman himself answered when asked about the subject: “My vision for the brand has been to generate growth through the careful development of new affordable products in different sectors that embody a lot of emotion: Enduro, Flat Track, Scrambler, Rally. That is why we relived the Caballero brand: it was the dream of every teenager in the 1970s and 1980s to have a gentleman, well, that or a fantic chopper!”
Subsequently, these goals have been fulfilled with the arrival of models such as the Fantic Caballero 700 of 2023, the brand’s first bicilindric or the XEF 450 Rally, presented in two different formats, base and factory, and built around the Yamaha WR 450 platform.
In 2024 he presented his new Fantic Black Edition MX and Enduro range and showed during the EICMA celebration of that same year his fantic motard-evo concept, a plug-in cyclomotor of about 95 kilos of weight and approximately 130 kilometers of autonomy. The Electrified Fantic XEF was also announced, although the final prices to be paid for them have already predicted little commercial success in the future.
The current Fantic situation
The latest information related to the brand are not precisely flattering. With one current debt of 136 million eurosthe Italian brand does not pass precisely because of its best moment. After a meteoric promotion in recent years, now it seems to suffer the consequences of making some of the business decisions that have been undertaken throughout the last five years.
However, a Venice Court has granted Fantic six months to try to catch up on the economic level. To do this, the brand has announced a new complete restructuring and its somewhat more than 140 employees, in solidarity with the company, agreed to reduce their salaries and hours worked as a measure to try to solve the poor accounts of the company.
As they detail from Motorrad Online, “Fantic should be able to overcome the crisis … thanks to its unusual property structure: Fantic does not belong to any corporation or family; the brand’s responsibility is shared by 31 venetwork shareholders, all of them renowned entrepreneurs. These are already providing considerable support, in particular by the multimillionaire Buzzi Spa, cement manufacturer with plants in 12 countries, including Germany.”
They conclude: “Buzzi already organized a capital increase for Fantic in 2023 and 2024 and has announced another by the end of 2025. Therefore, Fantic’s financial base should be assured for the moment.” We will be attentive to new updates on the subject, wishing the best of the mythical Italian company that has been delighting the two wheels since 1968.
