Five days, four motorcycles and thousands of smiles: this was the ninth edition of the Km Solidarity solidarity route

One more year, Km Solidarity has carried out “In search of the lost smile”, the solidarity route that has completed its ninth edition and that travels through Spain by motorcycle to bring moments of excitement to people with disabilities. Five days, nearly 3,000 kilometers and five autonomous communities: La Rioja, Madrid, Castilla-La Mancha, Valencian Community and Aragon to share happiness.

The headquarters of KM Solidarity, the largest motorcycle NGO in Spain, was the starting point. So from Lardero, very close to Lorgroño, the expedition started. What’s more, the exit ceremony took place in the Town Hall square, with a ribbon cutting included, and was attended by the mayor, Isabel Barceló, and the Minister of Culture, Tourism, Sports and Youth of the Government of La Rioja, José Luis Pérez Pastor, who defined the organization as “a proposal that backbones Spain” and added that “being supportive is a way of being Riojan.”

Four BMWs (two R 1250 GS Adventure, one R 1250 GS and one F 850 GS) were the pillars of the expedition, although they were accompanied by two support vehicles, an electric BMW iX3 provided by Autoberón and a MINI Countryman, which were in charge of transporting the luggage and the gifts (candy and bracelets) that were distributed at each center visited.

KM Solidarity has Luis de la Fuente as Honorary Member

The first important stop was at the Trébol Foundation, in Las Rozas. The visit was going to have the presence of Luis de la Fuente, national soccer coach and Honorary Member of Km Solidarity, but the World Cup call prevented him from attending. Even so, he wanted to be present with a video aimed at the center’s users, who responded by recording a message of encouragement for the selection. The president of the Trébol Foundation, Juan Pedro Viñuela, summarized the day by stating that “Km Solidarity’s visit is like a ray of light that illuminates the foundation that day.”

Continental was part of this integrative initiative

The route continued towards Albacete, where Asprona was the next destination. There, María Dolores Olivares, president of the entity, thanked the visit although she made clear an idea that runs through the entire philosophy of the initiative: «We don’t want pity; “We want inclusion.”

The last stage took the expedition to Teruel, with a stop at the Arboleda Public Special Education Center, where students of different ages, from the youngest to 21-year-olds, came to see the motorcycles. The deputy mayor of Teruel, Carmen Romero, was also present and highlighted that “Society is beginning to look at disabled people normally.”

Eduardo San Vicente, president of Km Solidarity, summarized the spirit of the ninth edition with two sentences: “Seeing those smiles is the reason we take the route” and “we have proven that by dedicating time you can make people happy.”
The 2026 edition once again had the support of Continental, which took its Conti TKC 70 tires to the route, in addition to the collaboration of Autoberón and MINI through support vehicles.

With this ninth edition now closed, Km Solidarity is now looking towards 2027, the year in which the route will celebrate its tenth anniversary.
