Sixty years after winning his first 500 cc world title, the transalpine legend Giacomo Agostinihas decided to open the doors of its history. Coinciding with his 84th birthday, the Italian legend has officially presented the «Ago Museum: Giacomo Agostinithe legend”, a space conceived to preserve and share one of the most extraordinary races that motor sport has ever given.
Located in Bergamo, the former driver’s hometown, the museum will open to the public on June 25 and promises to become a place of pilgrimage for anyone passionate about the world of two wheels. It is not only an exhibition of historical motorcycles, but an authentic immersion in the life of a man who marked an era and whose records continue to seem unattainable decades after his retirement.
The tour allows you to discover up close some of the most emblematic machines that he piloted Agostini during his career, along with an impressive collection of trophies, helmets, competition suits, photographs and original documents that help reconstruct each stage of his career.
As we all know, the magnitude of the Italian’s achievements alone justifies the existence of a museum of these characteristics. Throughout his career he won 15 world championships, added 123 victories in Grand Prix, won 10 victories in the legendary Tourist Trophy of the Isle of Man, and accumulated a total of 313 victories in competition. Each of these successes now has its space within an exhibition that seeks to show not only the sporting results, but also the human and personal context that accompanied one of the most important figures in the history of two wheels.
One of the most striking aspects of the project is its intimate nature. Far from presenting only objects of historical value, the museum incorporates numerous personal memorabilia that allows us to better understand the man behind the champion. The collection brings together everything from sports equipment to family photographs, institutional recognitions and pieces that had rarely been shown to the public. The result is a chronological account that allows you to travel through several decades of motorcycling, from the golden years of speed racing to the consolidation of the modern world championship.
An exclusive experience with Agostini himself
For the most passionate fans, the museum also offers a very special proposal. Under the name “Ago Experience”, some visitors will be able to enjoy a private meeting with Giacomo himself. The initiative goes far beyond a simple guided tour. Participants will have the opportunity to hear first-hand anecdotes, memories and experiences narrated by the champion himself, including stories that never made it into books or documentaries.
During the museum presentation, Agostini He did not hide his emotion. The Italian explained that he had been thinking for years about giving a definitive home to the memories of his career and that the last few months he had dedicated almost entirely to organizing and classifying each piece of the collection. As he explained, the new space brings together absolutely everything that marked his sporting career: the motorcycles he competed on, his racing suits, helmets, hundreds of trophies and numerous recognitions accumulated over decades.
Beyond preserving these objects, his wish is that new generations can discover who was Agostini and understand the magnitude of what he achieved on the circuits. Asked about his favorite corner within the museum, Agostini He acknowledged that it is impossible for him to choose a single piece or a single area. For him, each motorcycle, each trophy and each photograph represent years of effort, sacrifice and unrepeatable moments that are part of a history of which he feels deeply proud.
