That lifts his hand (or left us in comments) who once did not dream of having a GSX-R Suzuki in the garage. Probably, the model with which every fan relates the Japanese brand to this world of two wheels. A saga that, in addition, over the years, has been mutating towards a better generation than it had been until then.
That is why now, coinciding with the 40th anniversary of the model, the Japanese firm itself tells us in detail, in its new documentary, the ins and outs of these evolutions and as the acronym GSX-R have managed to become a reference for motorcycle lovers in general and sports in particular.
“Legends behind the GSX-R, special 40th anniversary”: Living history of the two wheels
I still remember the first time I had the certainty that at some point in my life I would pilot a GSX-R. It was there in 1996, when the brand had just launched the mythical Srad750, during the course of the patron saint parties where I spent my childhood and adolescence. Interestingly, this revelation came to me in the most unexpected way possible: seeing a macarra in the area of the area when I tried to make an invert, with his girlfriend up “package” on the rear hill lid.
You can imagine how the pirouette ended, with that beautiful srad750 quite damaged after the impact and both “motor acrobats” bruised and legs above. While at that time everyone ran to try to help the couple, I was ecstatic looking at the forms of that striking sports, which had already read a few evidence in which their testers, including the Great Cesar Agüi, extolled their incredible dynamic qualities.
Many years later I fulfilled the dream of having one of those machines and I have to say that, after having piloted and had in property a few Racing Mounts, the Srad750 is probably the one that surprised me the most of them, for their lightness, power and refined part cycle. Perhaps the result of the work of the development and evolution of some of the technicians and engineers who star in the brand’s new documentary.
It makes a historical review, from the first GSX-R750 refrigerated by oil of 1985, through the 1992 model already with water cooling or the aforementioned srad750 that I mention in my cartoon of grandfather Cebolleta. Then the 2000 model would arrive, even lighter and more powerful, and a season later the first GSX-R1000 of the saga.
Fruit of this tireless work of continuous development, but above all of the love placed for each of the protagonists of the video, in any of the generations of the model of which they were part, they are the main causes of Suzuki having recently been able to present its maximum evolution of these acronyms: its hopeful GSX-R1000R 2026, a mount that represents pure passion for the two wheels.
A faithful heiress of a 40 -year -old legacy that not only keeps that legacy, but also amplifies it with endless new and improved arguments. From the everlasting four -cylinder in line dohc of 999.8 cm³, with a final power of 195 hp to 13,200 rpm and a maximum torque of 110 Nm to 11,000 rpm, passing through a last cycle and electronic part of the last batch and ending through aggressive lines and functional style, for a legendary design.
Said all this, we only have one thing to say a lot of life for the acronym GSX-R! And thanks to Suzuki for being part of those biker dreams that, sometimes, they even end up becoming a reality.
