Gottfried Neumeister confirms the future of KTM: production will continue in Austria despite rumors about India

KTM recently presented the latest report on its financial results. This shows a strong year-on-year recovery in the second quarter. Group income increased to 370.2 million euros (+60.5% compared to the second quarter of 2025), with 48,672 motorcycles soldwhich means a 71% increase if we compare it with the second quarter of the previous year.

After knowing these data at the end of last August, the company’s general director, Gottfried Neumeisterdeclared: “The first quarter showed that the recovery is real, and the second quarter confirmed that we are on the right track. These results are not the result of chance or luck.”

He concluded: “Behind these figures are people: teams in Mattighofen and around the world who have worked tirelessly during a difficult year to secure the future of the company. With the support of our dealers, we have regained the trust of our customers. Backed by our new models and our motorsport successes, we are well positioned for a prosperous future.”

Neumeister silences rumors about KTM’s future

It was the latter who recently gave an extensive interview to the Austrian media SpeedWeek. In it he has spoken openly about the situation that the company has been facing for approximately two years. In addition, it has tried to settle the rumors that placed the epicenter of the brand’s manufacturing in India. In this regard he commented:

“Rumors circulated that production would move to India, but our commitment to Austria is unwavering. We have more than 440 engineers who design cutting-edge products and set quality standards”. Some statements that are supported by the brand’s good corporate results, although Gottfried is very cautious on this issue: “Being profitable again is a big relief for us.”

With our feet on the ground

However, it makes one thing clear: “We must keep our feet on the ground; one good quarter does not guarantee a healthy balance sheet. And two good quarters do not make a company healthy. Everyone is watching us and we have to show that this is sustainable.” In addition, he has emphasized the importance of high competition in a brand like KTM. Something that the leaders of the group did not seem to be very clear about.

“You can always ask why we need careers and why we spend so much money on them if 500 people are laid off. Then you have to demonstrate with data how they positively impact sales figures. ‘Win on Sunday, sell on Monday’ “It works for our company.”concluded by referring to Pedro Acosta’s recent victory in MotoGP.

Gottfried Neumeister confirms that KTM production will be European

The KTM CEO concluded by referring to the brand’s present and its numbers: “Looking at our market environment, the other European manufacturers lost ground in the first half of the year. Of course, everyone says that we are starting from a lower position; however, it is very encouraging that we are outperforming the market and have sold almost 100,000 motorcycles.”

In any case, please note that “Volume is not everything; we first need to be profitable before we can expand the company.” And he ends by reiterating that although KTM is on the right track, since “All the new products are being well received”the future of the company depends on it, but also on how the latter knows how to perform in the coming months at all levels.
