The rumor of the possible arrival to the Harley-Davidson range of a Pan America 440sounds loud again after leaking some images of the patent registry on the future Xpulse 421 that Hero MotoCorp seems to be working on. The reason is none other than the collaboration that both brands have been carrying out for several years, and which in the past has already borne fruit in the form of models that share a common platform.
This is the case for example of the Harley-Davidson X440 and the Mavrick 440, and now everything indicates that it could be repeated with an ADV equipped precisely with this same mechanics implemented in the aforementioned models.
However, it could happen the opposite of what happened with the development and subsequent launch of the
Harley-Davidson Pan America 440: What we can expect
We have already experienced this story of a Pan America 440, although to honor the truth there has always been talk of other displacements and possible variants of the current Pan America 1250. We are talking, for example, of a future Pan America 975, theory that gained strength after the leak of assembly instructions for rear-view mirrors where, in several countries, the internal names that a version under this commercial name could have are included.
Months before, this option was already taken for granted, with the imminent arrival of the new Sportster 975. Subsequently, the idea of a Pan America 350 was also considered under the internal code X350RA. This news came after being able to verify that in the instruction manual of its range sister, the X350, the brand itself made reference to this possible version of the model in the form of a low-displacement ADV.
In any case, the Yankee firm has neither confirmed nor denied this rumor. However, if we let ourselves be carried away by the first details that we have known about the next Xpulse 421, a Pan America 440 would probably be equipped with a tubular steel chassis, radial type tires or a wide one-piece seat along with Front windshield of good dimensions.
Some notable aspects related to its Offroad aspect would include a crankcase cover, lever protectors or an exhaust system equipped with an upper side outlet. Inverted front fork, rear monoshock or a brake disc per axle would also be standard equipment.
For its part, regarding the mechanical section, the Pan America 440 would be powered by a single-cylinder water-cooled engine and associated with a 6-speed gearbox. Performance-wise, it should have at least a power around the 40 HP, offering up to 40 Nm of maximum torquefigures in line with what is trendy within the category and offer the most outstanding models in the segment.
