Hero could resurrect one of its most charismatic motorcycles with a new 125 retro

In recent times, Hero MotoCorp has pleasantly surprised us with some important developments that affect its future in the short and medium term. Following this dynamic, images of the registration carried out by the brand itself last summer have been leaked, and related to a future urban model, with a retro appearance, which reminds more than one of the Splendor Pro Classic of the 2014 season.

Although it is not conceived as a typical café racer, as is the case with the latter, some Indian media are already dreaming of the possibility of the return of this very charismatic model among the followers of the local company. In any case, the idea seems to be clear of materializing the idea: a simple frame with a classic appearance, equipped with a 125 cc mechanics.

A new Splendor Pro Classic as an option

Sticking to the information handled by the local media Gaadi Waadi, it is almost indisputable at this point that Hero MotoCorp ends up developing a wide range of 125 cc models intended, mainly, for the European markets. As they themselves comment, the approach of a new generation Splendor Pro Classic is totally viable, taking into account the current needs and trends of the market.

While it is true that the only image published about this patent record shows us a simpler motorcycle, at least with regard to aesthetics and general finishes, than the aforementioned Splendor Pro Classic, a “review” of the model falls within the hype of possibilities of finally being offered in different versions.

Hero MotoCorp could recover the retro style of the old Splendor Pro Classic for one of its new urban models

In any case, based on the key aspects of the photography provided by the brand on August 5, 2025, we see how Hero could already be working on a “compact motorcycle with round headlight, slim fuel tank, long one-piece seat, exposed side panels and a simple rear section”as our colleagues explain.

Basically, we would be facing an access model similar to that already offered by other Indian brands in which simplicity and efficiency must take precedence over any other attribute. Furthermore, unlike the 97.2 cc air-cooled single-cylinder engine that the Splendor Pro Classic had at the time, the new Hero model would be powered by a 125 cc engine.

Currently, the brand already has engines of this type included in some of its urban ranges, “including the Super Splendor and Glamor family.” This extra displacement and power is a commercial guarantee for potential interested parties, although always maintaining usability in the city, fuel efficiency and a tight final price. The latter is not incompatible with having a current technological level.

That is why India is betting that the future 125 cc Hero should incorporate, among others, fuel injection, i3S automatic start and stop system, digital-analog console, LED lighting in higher versions, alloy wheels, tubeless tires or a combined braking system.

In any case, we must remember that we are only talking about assumptions, so we will be attentive to future news on the subject.
