The Moves III Plan, the State Aid program for the purchase of electric vehicles and the installation of recharge points, has been excluded from the new decree approved by the Government. This decision is a hard setback for the sector and, especially, for those buyers who trusted to receive up to 7,000 euros of subsidy.
From the Institute for Diversification and Saving of Energy (IDAE) they have confirmed that all the applications registered between January 1 and 22, 2025 have been canceled, since the extension of the program was not approved in the bankrupt ‘of January 22. According to Idae, processing these requests would mean “Create a posteriori on an already extinct program”
This cancellation leaves hundreds of buyers without the promised help, forcing them to assume the total cost of the electric vehicle. The sector fears that the elimination of incentives slows down the transition to sustainable mobility in Spain.
Cancel the Moves III Plan is a step back in the advance of the electric vehicle
The president of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, has assured that he works in a new package of aid for the electric vehicle, which is expected to approve in the coming weeks. However, it is not yet clear if it will be retroactive or if it will replace Moves III under another format.
Uncertainty grows among potential buyers, while the electric vehicle sector, both two and four, observes with concern the possible loss of competitiveness against other European markets where aid is still valid.
