Special editions of special models tend to move on quite predictable terrain. A different decoration, some exclusive details, a history linked to competition and a somewhat higher price for a motorcycle in which few things really change.
That’s why when we find a version or, rather, preparation like the one Honda Australia has launched, it catches our attention. It is not that it radically changes the motorcycle, but it does add different elements that go one step further than a simple aesthetic modification.
In this case, the protagonist is the Honda CRF450RX Finke Limited Edition. A special edition created precisely by Honda Australia to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Tatts Finke Desert Race, one of the toughest races on the Australian calendar. The test covers about 280 miles, approximately 450 kilometers, on a round trip through the Outback, an unfriendly setting for motorcycles and riders.
The relationship with Honda Australia with this race is important, as the Japanese manufacturer has won 21 of its 50 editions in the motorcycle category, including David Walsh’s victory in the 50th anniversary edition.
Obviously, the chosen base is the CRF450RX (not the Rally version), a cross-country motorcycle derived from the CRF450R motocross, but adapted. Starting with the model, the changes are focused on getting fully into the competition, with a 12-liter IMS fuel tank to increase autonomy.
It also features a stainless steel HGS exhaust, a SKDA Finke 50th Anniversary graphic kit and a matching seat cover. Although we are not talking about turning the bike into a “full Factory” it does change it enough to be able to talk about something different.
The 2025 Honda CRF450RX special edition is priced lower than it should be
In any case, one of the most striking points of this version is the price. Honda Australia values the additional equipment at more than 3,500 Australian dollars, about 2,140 euros at the exchange rate. However, the CRF450RX Finke Limited Edition starts at 16,399 Australian dollars, just under 10,040 euros, that is, only 920 euros more than the standard CRF450RX.
So the conclusion is that, at least with the figures made public, the buyer pays less than half of the value attributed to the added equipment. Even so, there is bad news and that is that the Honda CRF450RX Finke Limited Edition will be a limited production model intended exclusively for the Australian market.
So, if you are looking at it from Spain thinking about the large tank, the HGS exhaust, the racing decoration and a relatively reasonable premium, you have to assume that it is not designed to arrive here.
