They have had to spend 5 years since Honda presented that first CB-F Concept, until this CB1000F Concept. In both cases, the place chosen to make them known publicly was and is the well -known Osaka motorcycle hall.
In its edition No. 41, the Japanese firm did not want to leave the opportunity to let us know what the “Evolutionary standard of sports motorcycles” From here to the future.
Honda CB1000F Concept: The first step of a new era
The new CB1000F Concept comes to culminate a route that, throughout the last five years, has made us imagine many times as a worthy successor of the first CB900F that was manufactured between 1979 and 1983. Now we already know where “the shots will go”, since the prototype presented is practically finished in technical and design.
In fact we want more as a very evolution of that first CB-F Concept of 2020, which the Japanese brand has somehow softened in general terms. As we can see, the CB1000F Concept does not mounted the stylized sculpture monobrazo, nor some asymmetric design wheels. There are also changes in the forms of the silent or the strokes that delimit the lines of the fuel tank.
However, in form and mode, that retro essence is maintained that he liked so much in 2020 after making known the first conato of this project. In addition, in Honda’s words: “The objective was to provide the emotion and depth that motorcyclists want to have fun in a wide range of situations, while creating a bicycle that motorcyclists could be proud to possess, with a style that evokes the” history of CB. “
In short, pairing past, present and future paid, without neglecting all those technical, design and of course utility values that the CB range has represented within the signing of the golden wing. In an interview granted by Yuha SuzukiHead of Design of the CB1000F Concept, this explains how the project was created until it was taken to the final form that has recently been shown:
“Since it is a model with such a long story, we began arguing with the design team how it has evolved over the years while we observed CB previous one next to the other and interpreted what type of model is the CB. After doing this work, we have concluded that the CB is a bicycle that incorporates avant -garde technology according to the new times, also offering the pleasure of conduct everyday. “
Concludes: “Due to the Covid-19 Pandemia, the 2020 concept model, the” CB-F Concept “, only launched on our website, but we received a positive response from the clients. As we needed a model that marked the pattern in the future of the road sports motorcycles, we plan the CB1000F Concept.”
On the essential design points when giving life to the CB1000F Concept, he says: “Specifically, powerful elements are incorporated around the engine and the deposit, and the position of the headlights is based on a horizontal theme, conferring on the motorcycle a worthy appearance. On the other hand, a contrast is created when creating a light and fluid design that flows gently from the seat to the back.”
“By adding lightness to the product, we expected to create a product that was majestic but easy to handle. Although our goal was to add a sensation of lightness to the design, the approach was slightly different from that of the previous CB designs, so even me, which I was drawing the sketches, I felt a little uncomfortable at the beginning. And as the impression is different when converting the snack into a three -dimensional model, we repeatedly tested Sketches and models to achieve the best contrast between dignity and lightness ”
He concludes by giving us some clues around the main aspects that have been present during the gestation of the design process: “The balance between hardness and softness of the surface. When converting the sketch that I drew into a three -dimensional object, I spoke with the modeler and went through a proof and error process. Since the CB1000F concept is that of a road sports motorcycle, we wanted to maintain an orthodox component configuration, so we adopted a fuel tank made of steel plate.”
“We were aware of the balance between hardness and softness in the appearance of the surface similar to steel and in the rounding of the corners. We also pay special attention to the size of the rear lights. At first I was thinking of something a little smaller, but although the force is concentrated in the front, considering the dignity it has when it is seen from all directions, I felt that it was also essential that it had a presence when it is seen from behind.
“On the front are the conventional round headlights, but the height to which they are installed has been carefully studied. We have carefully considered the optimal position of the headlights to transmit a sports appearance and at the same time a worthy and upright appearance.”
Beyond the merely visual, the CB1000F Concept is presupposed the same technical and mechanical part as its range of range, on which it has developed, the CB1000 HORNET. This happens to use the tetracylindrical propeller inherited from the CBR1000RRRR Fireblade 2017 that, for the occasion, offers us a final power of 152 hp at 11,000 rpm and a couple of 104 nm at 9,000 rpm. The mechanics would be efficiently combined with a showa suspension equipment, Nissin braking and equipment at the expected level.
Likewise, Honda could offer us an entrance variant to the CB1000F range to later delight in an SP version as already happens with the HORNET 1000 and the almost extinct CB1300.
In this case we could be facing the possibility of improvements focused on both the performance section, and in the general performance of the motorcycle. More power and torque and a specific set of suspensions and braking, it could be part of the ultimate final equipment.
