Honda sets a date for the CB400 Super Four: four cylinders, 58 HP and as light as it is cheap

Since last March it was confirmed that Honda was resurrecting the illustrious acronym CB400 Super Four, There have been many speculations that we have made regarding the final launch of the model and aspects as significant as its official price.

We will resolve both doubts in these lines, at least with regard to the Japanese market, the place chosen by the golden wing firm for the commercial debut of its new and long-awaited model.

CB400 Super Four E-Clutch: historical evolution of the acronym “CB”

Approximately two years ago, rumors began to spread about a more than possible new CB400 Super Four. In addition, Japanese media reported that Honda was already working on the reissue of the model and that it would also come equipped with the new E-Clutch electronic clutch technology. After unveiling the first prototypes, on the occasion of the 53rd edition of the Tokyo Motorcycle Showdoubts then revolved around his next commercial debut and the final price to pay for it.

The wait seems to be over, or that is at least what we deduced after reading one of the brand’s latest official statements: “We have launched the “CB400 Super Four E-Clutch”, a naked sports model equipped with an inline four-cylinder engine”. Honda has confirmed that the model will begin to be sold through Honda Dream dealers on next Friday August 21. In addition, we already know the recommended price from which the long-awaited CB400 Super Four E-Clutch range will start: 998,800 yen, about 5,400 euros at the current exchange rate.

25% cheaper than a CB1000 Hornet

After revealing two of the most relevant aspects of the model, at least as far as the commercial sphere is concerned, we could not resist speculating on the possible price of the CB400 Super Four E-Clutch if it arrived on our continent. Taking into account that a CB1000 Hornet currently costs 1,342,000 yen in Japan, about 7,250 euros more or less, this represents an extra cost of 25% compared to the launch rate of its younger sister.

Using a rule of three, the CB1000 Hornet starts at 11,190 euros in our market, so if we were to subtract the aforementioned 25% increase, compared to a CB400 Super Four E-Clutch, The latter could be offered at a price of around 8,400 euros. Undoubtedly, it is nothing more than a Monday morning theory, although we are certain that these amounts may not be very far from what could finally occur.
