If you don’t have money for a Honda Monkey you can always make one out of LEGO

We have seen many Honda Monkey preparations and also some copies of the legendary motorcycle, which was born as an accessory for amusement parks and has become an intergenerational icon.

Due to its characteristics, what was once a recreational motorcycle has even given rise to world records. Today it remains in the Honda catalogue, having a third or fourth life, as it is also ideal for carrying in a motorhome or camper.

And, of course, the Honda Monkey has been so successful over all these decades that it couldn’t be missing its LEGO version. The bad thing about a LEGO version is that you can’t ride it, because it’s very, very small. At least the versions that we can buy, because if you make the pieces yourself, things can be very different.

So, Youtuber Matt Denton, who is used to building full-size kits and recording everything, decided to get involved in this mess. Specifically, his challenge is the 8810 kit, which is not technically advertised as a Honda Monkey but as a Cafe Racer, but it is nothing more than a clone of the microbike. Of course, you can also build a trike with it, it’s a matter of taste.

The full-scale LEGO Monkey works and looks fun!

But returning to Denton’s work, what he did was put his 3D printing machine to work to shape each and every one of the blocks he needed. In fact, we can see next to him the original little motorbike from which this whole crazy idea was based. And just because it’s crazy doesn’t mean he doesn’t work on it and design it carefully, but the project is striking.

You only have to look at the development phase of the entire project to see how carefully thought out and worked everything is, and how it ends up becoming a reality. Nothing is left to chance, not even the batteries. Instead of placing them under the seat, a bottle has been devised to contain them inside. Because the bike is electric, and it runs.

The end result is brilliant. After putting everything together like a LEGO, but with some extra help in tricky places like the front fork, it’s time to test the miniature Monkey. Not only does it work, it looks incredibly fun, and it’s also been approved by a great like Adam Savage, world famous for his show “Mythbusters.”
