It also comes from bicycles

KTM’s last years before the great financial debacle were so incredible that they practically seemed like a lie… and that’s how it ended up being. The business group grew in every way, covering more and more until everything ended up blowing up.

Now, after Stefan Pierer leaves the group that he created and with its new ownership by Bajaj, things are changing, although the official name for now remains Pierer Mobility waiting to become Bajaj Mobility AG.

The path to redirect not only the future of KTM but also of Husqvarna and GASGAS, as Bajaj leaders understand, involves focusing solely on motorcycles, leaving aside everything that is not strictly linked. First there was the X-Bow car brand, which now belongs to the De Mevius family.

The brand is one of the most prestigious on the international scene

The group’s next step is to get rid of the bicycles, specifically the Felt brand, which Pierer Mobility AG had acquired in 2021. Currently, the KTM bicycle brand itself that we knew is no longer on the market, but with this step it is also getting rid of the business of a brand that, curiously, has changed hands on different occasions.

KTM gets rid of Felt, but it won’t be the last adjustment

Of course, the sale of Felt, although it has ended up happening now, actually seems to have been on KTM’s table since before the entire change of ownership. The talks could have started in 2023, remaining in the background until now due to the general situation.

As for Felt, it will become the property of what until now were its two general directors and minority shareholders, Florian Burguet and César Rojo. In this way, KTM continues the path of getting rid of everything that is not motorcycles in the search of reducing costs by 50%, which is the objective set by Bajaj.

Felt will pass into the hands of Florian Burguet and César Rojo
Felt will pass into the hands of Florian Burguet and César Rojo

An ambitious objective that involves all the movements that we have seen to date and others that are to come and among which could be, as we recently mentioned, the sale of KTM Racing.
