KTM has just released his new 690 Enduro R and 690 SMC R 2026two models with which the brand leads the category of motorcycles equipped with monocylindrical engine, thanks to having the most powerful block of the market with no less than 79 hp and 73 nm of torque, according to the official figures approved by the Austrian firm itself.
But we not only talk about an increase in benefits, since the new range 690 of the Austrian firm gives us lightness, high performance and capacity for any land, becoming de facto in two mounts specifically designed for those who wish to conquer nature from their home or sweep the streets of the city with its unique style.
New KTM 690 Enduro R and 690 SMC R 2026 in detail
There is no doubt that both the 690 Enduro R and the 690 SMC R, both in version 2026, are two of the most anticipated models by KTM enthusiasts. The first one continues its dual-sports legacy with integral updates that increase its offroad capacity and road refinement. For its part, the SMC R has long been the reference point in the supermotic segment and, in its 2026 version, it has been further perfected. A body again and aggressive design wraps the chassis, emphasizing the KTM competition DNA.
In any case, the Austrian brand has worked thoroughly in many aspects that make up the main platform of the two models. After the improvements of chassis and style of the previous generation, this last evolution presents an updated version of the robust LC4 engine of 690 cc, along with a series of electronic improvements, such as ABS in curves, the MTC in curves, driving modes and a new panel of tft instruments at full color of 4.2 ″, to name just a few.
Motor of the new KTM 690 Enduro R and 690 SMC R 2026
By 2026, the well -known KTM LC4 monocylinder engine receives a new clutch and stator cover, a new crankcase, compliance with Euro 5+ And, most importantly, greater power: 79 hp and 73 nm torque. In total, approximately 50% of the engine components were updated or replaced to comply with the regulations and achieve optimal performance in a unique and efficient package.
Changes in the oil system have also been made, not only to simplify it, but also to reduce resistance and increase the total available power for the driver. A new fuel pump with greater pressure in this update of the LC4 engine has been implemented. This has resulted in a more precise injection synchronization, thanks to a finer fuel atomization and greater accelerator control. The new pump also has a simpler design, which facilitates the maintenance and replacement of filters.
A new escape with a relocated catalyst results in a more compact final silencer. A new sound engineering study has also been applied to improve the sound quality and user driving experience, along with two Lambda probes for greater emission control. Likewise, this new version of the LC4 engine has an updated valve synchronization to optimize torque delivery at low RPM.
On the other hand, the throttle spin fist, developed by KTM R&D, presents a reduced turn of 65 degrees, which provides a faster and sensitive sensation sensation of the time that reduces the fatigue of the driver’s wrist angle and the elbow fall to maximum acceleration. Review that now the service intervals have increased from 10,000 to 15,000 km for oil changes and 30,000 km for the adjustment of valve slack.
Cycle part of the new KTM 690 Enduro R and 690 SMC R 2026
As for the cycle part, the KTM 690 Enduro R and 690 SMC R 2026 retain the chassis and the suspension of the previous generation, with small optimizations to improve the sensation and rigidity of the driver. In the chassis, lateral load stiffness has remained the same compared to the models of previous years, with an improved general rigidity in all loads.
This new rigidity profile improves driver’s sensation, providing a more prominent and direct sensation through the strokes and handlebars. Likewise, the suspension has been updated with new adjustments focused on performance and comfort. For its part, the 690 Enduro R also has new fixing points for a central easel, along with a new protective plate.
Technology and finishes of the new KTM 690 Enduro R and 690 SMC R 2026
At the aesthetic level, both models have completely new surfaces, edges and contact points. Each line has been carefully designed to maintain an impeccable appearance. The new graphics are executed by means of a mold process, which guarantees maximum durability and a premium finish.
On the technological plane, a new and resistant TFT instrument board of 4.2 ″ made of adhered glass with a polarization cladding to reduce glare in bright days. This guarantees that drivers can quickly and easily see all relevant information, such as speed, fuel level and march indicator, along with KTM Connect connectivity functions, such as a music player through the KTM application, the ability to respond incoming calls and step-by-step navigation with a USB-C port.
The new boards are backed by a completely redesigned switch box with optimized ergonomics and illuminated switches, which allows the user to control several motorcycle functions, such as lights, flashing and driving modes, interacting with different connectivity functions. The KTM 690 Enduro R has an ABS deactivation switch, being able to completely deactivate it on both wheels.
The new screen presents a single user interface that allows drivers to access and customize the Street and Sport/Offroad driving modes. The KTM 690 Enduro R has an optional Rally mode, while in the 690 SMC R we have the track mode. Both unlock functions such as launch control, 5-level anti-Wheelie mode, engine sliding regulation and sliding adjuster.
Sendos models are equipped with Cornering MTC and Cornering ABS, which use the 6D sensor information to adapt in curves. MTC and ABS can also be completely deactivated. Installed only in the 690 SMC R, the supermoto+ ABS allows the pilots to slide the rear wheel limited degrees when entering curves. In this case, the ABS remains active in the front wheel.
The sport ABS function enables the pilot to be more aggressive with the brakes before the ABS intervenes, maintaining active control on both the front and rear wheels. This function also offers greater braking pressure at inclination angles than the Road ABS, which provides more control and allows advanced pilots to stop more strongly before the ABS is activated.
As a novelty in the new KTM 690 Enduro R 2026 we have the dynamic sliding adjustment available only in the Rally mode. This function automatically balances the allowed sliding of the wheel with traction in any given situation. It only works in one direction, increasing sliding tolerance by reducing the level of MTC when an additional wheel turn is needed.
In the lighting section, a completely new LED headlight offers better visibility for other road users during the day and better driver lighting during the night. A new reflector design also guarantees a gradual decrease in light, which avoids sharp edges that could obscure obstacles beyond the illuminated area.
Finally, and as usual, the brand offers the possibility of further improving the new LC4 range, thanks to its complete range KTM Powerpartsspecifically designed to provide performance, style, protection and comfort. For its part, the KTM PowerWear It is developed thinking about the driver, providing comfort in daily displacements with true off -road performance.
The new KTM 690 Enduro R and 690 SMC R 2026 will leave the Austrian production line from August 2025 and They will be available at the KTM dealers authorized in the coming weeks.
