Marc Márquez leaves the future open to know where he will race in 2027

After a decade linked to Honda in MotoGP, Marc Márquez headed to Ducati to compete the first year with a satellite and backward motorcycle, and in 2025 move to the official team. The Spaniard, until his injury in Indonesia, had only left the “crumbs” to the rest, showing such superiority that since the Japanese GP he was already Mathematically World Champion, and also breaking the points record despite not being on the grid since the Indonesian GP.

Now he is going through a different moment, as the injury in Lombok has once again led him to undergo surgery, and to begin a tedious and slow recovery. All the information and statements indicate that he is on the right path and that he will take the time necessary to recover, which shows that he has learned from the mistakes of the past, and that is always something admirable.

The fact is that fully immersed in the week of the Valencia GP, which should have been a continuous celebration for the Catalan on the track, but which he will have to watch from the box, Marc has not stopped doing promotional events. He has been on different television and radio programs, and also in an event organized by one of the few sponsors that has been able to lead the change to Ducati.

Has Marc Márquez opened the door to a possible return to Honda or are they just negotiation techniques?

In this talk the Spaniard talked about all the details of his recovery, the process he is going through and that he still does not have a return date, even though he would like to be in the Sepang tests and have been able to ride a motorcycle long before that. Also, when asked, he said that he sees it very far from being able to equal Ángel Nieto and his 12+1 titles, for which he would need to add another four.

But beyond all these questions and answers, some analyzing the rivals or even making fun of his age saying: “He brakes later, because the reflex is late”, one of the points that caught the most attention was when he was asked about his future and a possible return to Honda and what the Japanese would have to do to convince him. To this question Marc answered:

“They are more theories than practices. First, I will never make a decision while injured unless I see it very, very clearly and now I am in a very sweet moment, I am on the crest and the decisions have to be the right ones, being selfish and now in 2027 no one can guarantee the best motorcycle. Everything will be closed and we will have to follow intuition and evaluate everything, but it is a year in which everything will be open at the level of motorcycles and factories, no one can guarantee that their motorcycles will be the best and everything will have to be managed in the best way.”

The Marc-Ducati idyll is obvious

An answer that, although it does not say anything, does not close doors in a categorical way and that hides a reality: that being inside Ducati you will know perfectly the state of evolution of a motorcycle in which, the Italians, are going to put all their efforts. So the question is: are we facing a nod to Honda, a slap on the wrist to Ducati so that they do not relax or a measure of pressure to negotiate the 2027 contract upwards?

Time will tell.
