Marc Márquez will travel to Mugello to try to race the Italian GP

Since Marc Márquez had to undergo surgery after the French GP, it was announced that his time out would be much shorter than on other occasions. At that time it was stated that the removal of the surgical material (some screws) would be of little harm and the Catalan could soon return to competing, although, yes, no dates were established.

Now, with just under three days left until the first free practice sessions of the 2026 Italian GP begin, it has been confirmed that Marc will be back. At least that is the idea of the current champion who, through his social networks and next to his Panigale V4, has shared a simple: «Let’s see Mugello! In the publication, he has also shared moments from these last few days.

What should not be overlooked is that while, at least visually, nothing can be seen on the shoulder, the Walker boot that immobilizes his right foot, damaged in the Le Mans fall, is more evident.

As Ducati also confirmed, after the latest medical check-ups, Marc Márquez had received the go-ahead to travel to Mugello. It will be there where the championship doctors will undergo a final examination to determine whether or not Marc will be able to participate in the Italian GP.

Is Marc’s return hasty?

On this occasion it does not seem that Marc’s return will be hasty and the fact is that although the fracture in his foot is relatively recent at just under three weeks, it is compatible with a certain level of healing and even more so taking into account the intense physiotherapy work that he has carried out in this time.

On a sporting level, yes, it is difficult to know in advance how Marc will be and how his recovery will affect him. What should happen is that the nerve problems caused by those screws in his shoulder have disappeared, another thing will be whether the pain may appear or not and, if so, how it could incapacitate him.

If everything goes well physically, how far can Marc go?

In any case, the return of Marc is good news and, although he does not admit it, he will surely look askance at the championship. After all, there are still 16 GPs ahead, just one less than he needed last year to become champion and with 78 points ahead of Álex despite missing Indonesia onwards.

He is now 85 points behind Bezzecchi, but has only missed two GPs, in addition to the crashes. So how far will Marc go this year? Can he come back? Is it the goal? As he hits the track in Mugello (if he receives medical approval) we will see.
