MV Agusta closes the mythical design center of Massimo Tamburini

When a business situation is complicated, sharp measures are taken seeking to solve the problem. In this case, the problem is that MV Agusta is in full restructuring after KTM detached from it, and if you want to move on its new ones and the previous time responsible have to make determinations, leaving aside romanticism and being fully pragmatic.

That is why one of the most important design centers in history, the Ricerche Castiglioni center, although originally when it was founded in 1993, Ricerche Cagiva Center was founded, has closed its doors after more than 30 years working and giving the world designs of large Italian motorcycles. Interestingly, I was established not in Italy but in San Marino, because Massimo Tamburini who was originally from Rimini, worshiped the small country.

Today, three decades later, some creations remain modern

And it is that Tamburini’s relationship with San Marino came in addition to far, because when he left Bimota in 1983 and began to make chassis for Roberto Gallina, he was on the border with both countries. But returning to the Ricerche Castiglioni center, Claudio Castiglioni offered to collaborate to Tamburini and from there began the entire process, which was consolidating a relationship that gave us some of the most beautiful motorcycles in history.

From CRC some of the Cagiva, Ducati and MV came out more remembered

Working with Cagiva and Ducati on motorcycles that have their mark, and that in many cases they have aged revaluing, Tamburini and Castiglioni ended up creating the CRC (the acronym have not changed although at that time they were those of the Ricerche Cagiva Center). It is said that Tamburini’s influence is maximum and that Claudio was mainly in charge of contributing capital, an extremely important thing.

Among those walls that will now be orphaned with the transfer of the study to Varese, jewels such as the Ducati 916, the MV Agusta F4 750 or the MV Agusta Brutale 750 were born. After the withdrawal of Tamburini for health reasons, Adrian Morton stood in front and continued to be born jewels as the most recent 800 superve.

With Tamburini in its maximum splendor they were born incredible motorcycles
With Tamburini in its maximum splendor they were born incredible motorcycles

So although the CRC changes stage, no one can erase the story and hopefully, within a time and if the work of the Sardarov family, the owners 100% of the Italian brand, bear fruit perhaps in the future we can see spectacular fruits also born of the new “CRC” of Varese that, yes, it will only be known for their MV designs of Agusta.
