Next revolution in security? Honda records a motorcycle lane change alert system

Honda follows his when we talk about security technology. The patent registration of a futuristic lane change alert system is a good proof of this. A typical technological display in the world of cars, but that seems to be ready to start using efficiently in the motorcycle sector. In the case of the Japanese firm, its Goldwing model is the one that has the most letters to release a system of this type in the short or medium term.

Lane change alert system, everything we know

Now, we have known how Honda has recently registered a patent in relation to a new lane change alert system. This, unlike other similar systems that we can find in the automotive sector, does not emit annoying signs and sounds constantly. To do this, it makes use of a radar and a camera anchored to the front of the motorcycle.

Both elements recognize both the lines of the road and the traffic signs found in their operatic radio. Like a system to use, it manages to perceive whether when we approach the dividing lines of the road we do it voluntarily or not, depending on whether we use the flashing or, on the contrary, we do not resort to these. On the other hand, “The initial lane change alert will be activated by initially crossing the central line or lane dividing line, but will also activate a timer inside the computer.”

“If it detects the same factors that would normally activate the lane change warning within a pre -established time (the patent suggests three seconds, but that figure could be modified), suppresses the warning and assumes that it is being divided from lane intentionally”as detail in the description of the lane change alert system from Cycle World.

Likewise, if the system detects that you are leaving lane and circulating in a space between vehicles narrower than a normal lane, it recalibrates the parameters in charge of the collision warning function of the front radar itself. While we are only facing a new Honda patent, this lane change alert system could be a new complement to the new advanced driver’s assistance system (grip).
