At the beginning of this year we told you about Janus Motorcycles, the creator of the most unique motorcycles from Indiana, USA, who recently presented this Janus Flying Za unique mount, since only one copy has been manufactured, developed on the basis of another of its models, the Halcyon 250. In short, a preparation that exudes uniqueness and good workmanship on all sides.
Apparently this Flying Z is a commission from Mark Zweigfinancial director and part-time partner of the brand. A customization that also has a series of elements that are not available among the optional features that the company itself offers its customers when configuring their models.
Janus Flying Z in detail
In the interview conducted by Ultimate Motorcycling with Zweig himself, he explains that: “Our basic Halcyon 250 looks like a bike that could have come out of the 1920s, so I wanted to see what we could do with creating a bike that looked like a natural evolution of that bike that would have been built in the 1930s or 1940s. One of the coolest things about The Flying Z is its set of flared, deeply skirted fenders that make it more aerodynamic.”
And continues: “I’ve wanted to see what one of our bikes would look like with fenders like these for the past few years, and our master fender builder, Brent Lehman, along with design guidance from our founder and design director Richard Worsham, made it possible.”
In addition to the two custom fenders, the Flying Z The car is painted in a project-specific Cavalry Blue color scheme. It also sports newly designed logos on the fuel tank, where Janus Pinstriper’s Kelly Borden recreated special details for this model. Also of note is the statuette mounted on the front of its fender created by sculptor Eugene Sargent.
Other exclusive features of the Flying Z include:
- Polished components
- Custom fuel tank cap
- Flying Z logo engraved on the air box, Etc.
Zweig comments: “For me, the Janus represents everything I want in a motorcycle. It’s incredibly beautiful, simple, reliable, ultra-light and fun to ride. So when I decided to build a new bike so I could try out some new design ideas, I opted for another Halcyon 250 rather than one of our larger-displacement bikes. It’s a wonderful, basic design.”
Concludes: “I can’t wait to see the public reaction to the new Janus Flying Z. My old Janus draws a crowd every time I park it, and I hope this one draws even more attention.”
