Skoda Octavia Combi RS 2024, the most rational of the Group’s sports estates

The new one Skoda Octavia Combi RS 2024 is the sporty version of the compact family car that was renewed in 2024. The mechanical range is reduced compared to its predecessor, since for the moment it is offered exclusively with a gasoline engine (previously also diesel –discarded– and plug-in hybrid). It is already available for a price of 45,700 eurosjust 700 euros difference compared to the sedan it is based on.

Under the hood, the new Skoda Octavia Combi RS is powered by the four-cylinder petrol engine, the 2.0 TSI with 265 HP and 370 Nm of maximum torque (between 1,600 and 4,500 rpm), sent to the front wheels via a seven-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic gearbox. It is a mechanical layout shared with models such as the Volkswagen Golf. The Cupra Leon Sportstourer, or the Golf Variant, two cars from the same group, are equipped with more powerful engines associated with all-wheel drive. It does not have any type of micro-hybridisation, which is why it obtains the C label.

This mechanics offers good performance since it is capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.5 seconds (with a top speed electronically limited to 250 km/h) and a fairly tight approved fuel consumption: 6.9 l/100 km according to the WLTP cycle. It also has a sports chassis lowered by 15 mm, progressive steering and a limited-slip differential.

The updated design of this generation of the rather classic estate is complemented by adornments such as the revamped RS logo or headlights with Matrix LED technology as standard, black details in areas such as the front bumper, mirror housings or rear diffuser, where there are black exhaust pipes. The rear lights have dynamic indicators and an animated Coming/Leaving Home function. There is no lack of 19-inch wheels or tinted rear windows.

The cockpit features stainless steel sports pedals or sports seats with integrated headrests with electrical adjustment and memory function, upholstered in microfibre and artificial leather with red stitching. The same formula applies to the dashboard, dominated by the 13-inch screen for the infotainment system – compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay – or the 10-inch digital instrument cluster.

Its standard equipment includes multiple airbags (front, knee for the driver, side and curtain), automatic high beam assistant, automatic headlights and rain sensor, electrically adjustable and foldable and heated exterior mirrors, interior rear view mirror with anti-glare function, Head-Up Display, multifunction sports steering wheel adjustable in height and reach… There is no shortage of driving aids such as the lane departure warning assistant with guidance function, lane departure warning, hill start assistant, adaptive cruise control and speed limiter…
